Oh and it should be said that the Big Guy is like, the savior of the entire Universe in the long-haul as long as the Universe keeps providing him nourishment while it exists. Once the Universe inevitably comes to it's end and everything implodes on itself all that will be left is Galactus at which point he will release all the energy he has been storing to rebirth the Universe.
For some reason not a lot of people know this, but I think it's a pretty damn important fact about him.
Anywhoooooooooo
Oops, I guess he does eat stars, here's a good explanation:
"Galactus can eat stars. He's done so in the past, just after the Annihilation conflict in fact, and his feeding doesn't kill them. However, it does drain millions, or even billions, of years off of the star's life span and uses up energy it can use in other ways, such as forming new elements to 'seed' the nebula it will become after it explodes.
Remember, nebulae form stars, stars go nova, the remnants of the stars eventually form nebulae, and then the cycle repeats.
Galactus eating a star is basically like a farmer eating a cow, rather than keeping it to supply milk, cheese, and butter. In the short term, it offers a gigantic meal and can satisfy him for ages. In the long term, however, it denies him the ability to eat smaller, but still satisfying, meals many times in the future."
