Big Bang Theory (Tv -Show)
« on: Fri, 06 May 2016, 04:03:17 »
Anyone else feel like it's not very fresh no more?

despite the new jokes, the hinge to each joke is the same,  --hey look at us we're so geeky--

And all the story arcs involving the female characters aren't funny at all..

Especially Amy, her character just doesn't seem necessary..

Every time I hear the main guys voice (not the tall skinny one) I want to punch something...

ALF ran for four seasons. FOUR SEASONS (and two seasons as a cartoon)

It is extremely rare for any show to maintain a high standard of quality for more than a very few seasons.

I still like the show quite a bit, and I do respect the concept that the writers have allowed the characters to "grow up" into relationships, etc.
However, I don't think that the effort has been particularly successful. They have "shrunk" the guys' personalities to "make room for" the girls in the show, and that has left all the characters ever more shallow and less interesting.

Rajeesh, in particular, has been painfully downsized, and many of the best silly and obvious one-liners that would have been his now go to Bernadette instead. With him relegated to the sidelines rather than being the primary comic foil, the humor of the show has suffered greatly.

In fact, actual humor is what is most conspicuous in its absence now. The show simply isn't very funny any more. There are jokes and humorous situations now and again, but they are mostly just low-key and sad. I can hardly remember a plot with something like a road trip to a comic convention, or anything else strikingly nerdy.

"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

Meh. It's always been a bit of a low effort show, but I enjoyed it for what it was. At this point I mostly watch for the occasional laugh and to see the thing through to the end.

I never thought it was funny. Most of the jokes, to me, were just references without any real humor. My wife loves it, so I'll sit and watch an episode with her every once in a while; helps keep me in the loop as to what's happening with the story.

A lady I work with said she was flipping through the channels and saw it come on, but immediately changed it when she saw the title because the Big Bang THEORY is just that, a THEORY, and it was started by godless scientists who were trying to trick people into not believing that God created the Earth.  She is a special lady.
