Admirable practice? Too much effort? Not enough pəˈzaz? Too expensive?

I did an internship part-time in a chemical plant that was located next to a factory where they made dog food. The smell was terrible. I don't think I'd encourage people to.

You won't die right away..  it could be a temporary solution.

I don't think you'd die at all. But neither would it exactly taste nice.

What about for video game developers? Wouldn't that be kinda weird?

edit - For those not 'in the know': "Eat Your Own Dog Food" is a saying regarding companies or people that use the products that they produce

I couldn't think of a spot where this thread could co-exist so I placed it in Off Topic. That was my first mistake. My second mistake was posting about something that could be conceived as work. Work is bad. My third mistake was to use a phrase that may have been coined my Microsoft.

If you ask me, Tiger Chow is much more palatable.

I used to teach at a school next to a chocolate factory (Cadbury).

After about 5 minutes the smell was unbearable.

Unbearably bad, that is.  It stopped smelling like chocolate and just started smelling like chemicals.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

That's because there isn't really any chocolate in Cadburys.

In the city where I live there's a coffee factory. That actually smells absolutely wonderful.

i've always wondered what dog food contains, never bothered to look it up however.
would it be good for humanz?

never understood why dogs attack the food like it actually smells good.
and cat food smells even worse, from what i remember..

It contains a lot of organ and waste meat. Basically the stuff we don't eat.

How often is it that you get the chance to develop software for sale first and for use in your own production environment second? I don't think I have ever been in such a situation.

There is a roaster near a place I once worked. It smelled really good ... but then they modified their process.

I don't see an issue with it.  I mean, Charlie and Frank ate cat food all the time and look how great they are doing!

My favorite snack as a child was grass or the occasional hand full of mud.

I think , probably every child has tried chewing on those two things.

Dirt,  Right away,   I knew it were not edible,  the larger pebbles especially.

Grass,  I wasn't so sure,  so for that I asked an adult..

Well, they both smell equally bad, and they must have similar digestive tracts based on the evidence in the picture below:
