What bothers me the most is forgetting to check "send a copy to my inbox", then lets say you get a message a couple days later and don't have/forget the context. Why isn't that a default setting? Why is it even an option?
If you check it for one message, it should stay checked for all subsequent messages, at least until you manually uncheck it.
I'm curious why anyone wouldn't want a copy of their message history?
I keep copies of all mine.
But then I also have an email archive going back to early 2004, so I'm probably not the best person to ask
I wouldn't have it any other way.

I've been on gmail for years though, my dad as well. Its shameful to see his unreads, I think its over 50K at this point
