Partial upgrades will be more hard drives, and then (if the prices come down) I'd love to do a dual GPU setup for ALL THE FPS :))

After those... Years I hope.

New processor and mobo. I literally cannot upgrade my cpu w/o getting a new mobo (and literally cannot upgrade my GPU w/o upgrading either of those... which means I'd need a new PSU as well) so it's got to be a double shot.

Basically I need a new computer, except for storage and memory. Current setup should last another 1-2 years though, so priorities come first and a new computer is like at the bottom of my priority list.

Already upgraded last year... now I am thinking of upgrading the monitor. Need 4K, USB-C (for the Mac), IPS, 27", G-Sync - and it seems IMPOSSIBLE to find one like that. The nearest is a LG 27UD88 - but it is FreeSync - linky:

Nothing that small will handle 4k HDR very well..

So you're better off getting a 50 inch TV..

I'm considering a Ryzen 2700X with a ITX mobo. I currently have a 4770K on a ATX mobo.
I'm still wondering if it's worth upgrading.

I expect that my main PC should last five years with its current CPU and mobo: i7 7700 on mATX.
I have room for more RAM, discrete GPU and more storage but don't need any yet.

Would have got Ryzen 2400G if I had built a system today, probably mITX. I don't need umpteen cores and I don't play much games.

My last but one upgrade was late 2009 so about 8 years ago.

My last upgrade was late last year.

Hopefully this one will last as long as the other one, which would make my next upgrade sometime around  2025.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I'm sticking with my i7 3770k with 32 GB DDR3 and a GTX 1050 4GB GPU for the foreseeable future. Does everything I need plus I could overclock it if more power is needed. I might upgrade GPU next but that will be a while.

Those bugs are highly over-rated for home users.
It's a big deal if you have a server, but home users should be far less worried.

I want a tempered glass case, purple lighting, black sleeved cables. a 1080 Ti (or 1180 Ti by then). I WANT TO BUILD A BEAST. But no moneeyssss.
Most of that can be done for a few dollars.
Sleeving you can do yourself it's just time consuming, lighting can be done super cheap, and there is a pretty nice tempered glass case for just $60.
The only real issue here is that 1080... Bend over.

I've done systems of this caliber, they cost a lot and while they run well, you can get 90% of the performance for a lot less money. That last 10% in computing is rarely a wise choice.

I really need to upgrade my Skylake i5 6700k, but I've been avoiding it due to motherboard incompatibility. I don't want to buy a new board and chip for an incremental upgrade. I get really good frames on most of the games I play. Sea of Thieves is always around 100 FPS, for instance.

I've been watching these SSD prices for a while now. Hoping to score a 1TB SSD under $200 sometime soon!
