What are the best games for Linux?
« on: Mon, 17 April 2017, 09:30:31 »
And by best I mean the following:

1. Super easy to install.  (ie: Not having to burn through a weekend going through configuration files/etc. to get it to work.)
2. No compromises whatsoever over a Windows/Mac port.  In fact in some cases it may be superior (frame rate etc...)
3. Do not have to search for a special/uncommon graphics card/chipset to make it work.

I'm obsessed with tetris curently. Anybody got advice for a GOOD tetris client? I tried a couple, but they all sucked.

I've been watching classic tetris world championship lately (CTWC).

Battle for Wesnoth, Nethack,… It's probably in the repos. There's quite a lot of stuff in the repos, usually.

Even getting majority of proprietary games ported/released after ca. 2007 to run is simple, if you know how library linking works (i.e., know which libraries distributed with the game you should remove).

Steam on linux works really good these days and they have a decent selection of games.
Doesn't get much easier to install.

I would recommend "Pillars of Eternity" if you are into RPGs or SOMA if you like sci-fi horror ( like bioshock with less shooting )

I know what you mean. Again, like with FPS. My solving abilities suck nowadays. I don't know how I pulled it off when I was 9.
