Yesterday I watched somebody back into my car :-)

This reminds me of a news story about an auto insurance fraud ring operating in a nearby city. What would happen was that certain people would *back their car into others on the highway*. I don't recall the exact details, but I'd imagine they would do this during traffic jams or on jammed exit ramps, but ostensibly during normal traffic flow (at great risk to them and others).

They would then claim insurance, the reasoning being that no sane person backs up their car on the highway, so it must have been the other guy who rear-ended them. Apparently this **** flew in court for a bit until one random guy happened to have a dash cam and caught the whole thing on video (the guy backing into him on the highway). This led to people uncovering an entire criminal ring dedicated to this.

Not yet. I've been reading/watching reviews on it and it seems pretty solid.

Currently using my gopro as a dashcam.

I think I'd want one with a mic/that I can attach a mic to in case I need to record a conversation if I ever get pulled over  :))

So the people I'm buying the house off call me today and say; "there's a new document, it will solve everything, just read it and hopefully we can get the purchase going again."

Here are the best bits.

"As you are aware, the lease of your property contains the following restriction which prevents you from transferring or sub-letting the property to a person of less than pensionable age..."

"We can confirm that our client has no objection to you occupying the property"

"...however...This letter does not therefore constitute a formal variation of the terms of the lease."

"if the freeholder required our client to remedy a breach within the lease, then they would have no option but to take action."

Then, "please get the money sent over to us so we can sell you this flat which you will never be able to sell on again"

Basically, we promise not to force you to sell your house, however the people who own the property could still do so.

TL;DR: **** you, you *******s, you're not getting my money.

Dude, that sucks man.  Do you get your down payment back at least since it's all their **** up?

I hope you find a nice new place that's even better.

And on my car front, got the repair appraised today.  It's roughly $1300 to fix.  So when I do take it in, that will be $1000 in deductibles from this and the previous I'll be waiting to get back.  At least it should count as a bit at fault instead of a no fault and hopefully won't affect my insurance.  The ****ty part is that I may actually need a rental car this time around and I'm not sure my insurance will cover it.

I got all my money back. But I would like it if we could get into this flat. All we need is the freeholders to pull their fingers out and we will be fine.

Zeus baiting, at what rank? I very rarely see anyone ever buy a zeus unless its like silver/nova level.

props to them for being effective campers (still knew where they were every single time) but the zeus' weird proximity aim thing is unfair in that case cuz i cant get pixel perfect headshots quickly enough before im even done turning the corner

yes they are! I had to push mine in with a hand then solder, then push and heat pads again to getthem flat with the pcb.

I knew most of my switches would be crooked but what I'm staring at is genuinely awful. I'll have to reflow most of the alphas...

I received my first HR complaint against me ever earlier this week. A co-worker was frightened when he/she looked at my displays and saw "knives". I can't place specifically when I had "knives" on my screen but I can only guess it was part of the massdrop lineup for the day.

Frankly, I think (and hope) that all this right-wing insanity continuing to spiral out of control in the US is about to reach a tipping point where reasonable people are going to wake up and say "enough of this **** already"

If we are lucky, the recent brouhaha-ha over Confederate flags is an indicator of that.

And I have to think that any reasonable person looking at the current Republican field of candidates could not help but see what a constellation bastards they really are.

PS - do you really have an F-107?
Citizens United violates the essence of what made America a great country in its political system. Now it’s just an oligarchy, with unlimited political bribery being the essence of getting the nominations for president or to elect the president.
So now we’ve just seen a complete subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors, who want and expect and sometimes get favors for themselves after the election’s over.”

I received my first HR complaint against me ever earlier this week. A co-worker was frightened when he/she looked at my displays and saw "knives". I can't place specifically when I had "knives" on my screen but I can only guess it was part of the massdrop lineup for the day.

True story
:/ did you at least try to say it was a email and say it has a few other things on mainly keyboard and electronics, but seriously that's a bit annoying you would get told off for happening to have something on your screen which you have no control of .-.

Negative - to be honest, I had to ponder a bit to even think about "When would I have been looking at knives?".

Luckily, my supervisor had the remediation conversation with me and not HR. He knew I didn't have any mal-intent but had to run through the motions.

My dad's car was vandalized this morning. My dad is openly in a couple of demographics that are subject to hate crimes, so it has me really really freaked. :( Especially since both our cars were parked out front and there was nothing on mine.

This is really terrible. I just don't understand how people can be so closed minded.  :-[

Can you explain how you came to the conclusion that this is in any way related to Republicans?

Not all Republicans are hate-mongers, by any means, but you would be hard-pressed to find "haters" who espouse inclusive, compassionate, secular political ideals.

As long as the radical-right tail wags the Republican dog, the good ones will not be able to get much distance from the bad ones.

It is high time for the Republican party to divorce the Tea Party.

In my opinion, it's lack of education and/or poor family environment (read: ****ty parents) about 95% of the time. 5% of the time the person is just a natural bastard, though possibly exacerbated by lack of education and poor family environment.

lack of education and poor family environment are just common consequences of "being poor" (economically)...

In the modern world, theoretically, no one should be poor, and yet here with are... Income disparity hundreds of billions to 1..

We really must look inward as the majority of us has silently accepted that inequality by submitting to personal greed.

A little greed from each of us is the construction of capitalism..

Whether it's bad is debatable..   but the takeaway is  EVERYONE is to blame.

there are many rich and privileged people who have a poor family environment. furthermore, there are many poor families who go on to obtain a high level of education.

but yes, poverty is a contributing factor, although bigotry is definitely found in all walks of life. i would even argue that in some cases, poor people are of stronger moral character than bourgeois or rich folk, since they have experienced hardship.

i agree that greed is an ongoing problem. this is to some extent human nature, and also partly due to lack of competition in this world. a lot of injustices and social inequality come about as a result of peacetime, ironically, and it is often in conflict band together and improve and grow. unfortunately, yay, we have nuclear bombs out the wazoo, so that's probably not a viable path anymore.

sic transit gloria mundi, and all that.
