It was interesting, not exactly what I was expecting. A smaller gathering for keyboards only would have been much better.
My decision to bring ancient beige 1980s-90s gear was good because the overwhelming majority of the other stuff was tiny modern Cherry and Topre keyboards.
I brought an F-122 with floss mod, a Northgate Omnikey 101 with blue Alps transplant, NMB Hi-Tek black "Space Invaders", and a Laser board with white SMK clicky MX mount caps. I was hoping to introduce some of the younger folks to things they might not have seen before.
The most common comment was "I have never tried blue Alps before" and the Model F and clicky Space Invaders got a fair amount of action as well. There were a few people who liked the SMKs, so maybe I achieved some more exposure for them.
I brought my laptop so that people could actually type, but there was no power available (huh? this space used to be a CompUSA store!) so with multiple keyboards going my battery ran down before the show was over.
Thanks to Chris and everyone for putting it together.
