New Mechanical Keyboard Convert
« on: Mon, 04 March 2013, 13:41:31 »
I wanted to report that I have made a new convert. I put together a keyboard this weekend from parts. I got a stripped down Rosewill 9000 from the classifieds and put in vintage black switches with blue springs. Vintage ghetto reds, if you will. Sent it off with my wife to work this morning.

Got the following email a couple hours later: "What is key ghosting?  And what color switches did you give me?  I really like my new keyboard.  Thanks!!"

My wife asking geeky keyboard terminology questions....priceless.
I stay busy with work and family these days, but I'm still around, lurking.

LOL. well, I did put that board together specifically for her to try. I was really making ghetto greens for my board and the black switches with blue springs were leftover, needed something to do with them...

Just don't let her get into customizing or collecting too or you will really be in the poorhouse.

Haha. Don't worry I do that stuff too. Not much of a duck hunter though.

You think keyboards are an expensive hobby, try guns. They call it BRD, black rifle disease.

dont be fooled. southerners can be just as geeky and nerdy as any other part of 'dese untied states. i grew up in the south and graduated from north carolina.  i have seen unix admins with john deere trucker hats, and even seen a man in a nascar shirt correct a passerby's klingon.
