Based on the specs.

It should be a VA-panel tv,  made by Hisense,  under the Sharp Aquos branding.

~4000:1 contrast
~300 nits brightness.

This should work as a pretty decent monitor. 

Not the biggest fan of android TV platform, buhh we'll see.

As far as can be gleaned it should have 20-point gamma control for calibration w/ decent precision.


That $300 one from Walmart couple days ago, basically no one got it, so not hoping for that.

Returns valid until January.


Tp4 will have the TV on Wednesday,   Soooo.. you guys can order it NOW,  and wait for TP4's review, if it's no good, just don' pick it up.

Well, even if one was to buy a monitor,  it would be at least ~200 $ for a 2560x1440  32 incher.   A 4K 70 Inch is 4x 35"  1920x1080.  That's a  way way better deal.

we do not have the same brokeness meter, i do not feel broke but i most definitely can't afford a 500$ TV, I can only afford a free crt TV (when talking TV). My whole computer setup fits into your TV/Monitor budget. As i said not that i am complaining, it is plenty enough for me, but either you stop over spending on random tech or stop saying that you are "maximum broke", a lot of peoples are in a much worse situation than you are

Sigh...  soooooo.. some bad news guys..

They kinda lied on the specs page.

@ 6500k color temperature, the industry standard for movies/games/pc/consoles,  the Peak brightness is only 250nits. (spec quoted 300nits)

The Contrast spec is spot on 4300:1, I expect if I burn it in I can get 4500:1.   That's fine.

But it's a fairly dim TV.   

Color space is SRGB, no surprises. tone accuracy is decent, but there is no 11point gamma control, it has a cms but very rudimentary.

The panel quality is pretty good,  Very good drift characteristics and no extreme artifacts.

Ssssss...   Might go for the SONY X750H 65 incher instead for $600..   Lose 5 inches, gain 100 nits (340 nit panel) + wide gamut colors. 

Decisions decisions.   Not upset,  But Disappointed..   

You can check out this post's  Attached HTML file to see the Panel's preliminary PRE-burn measurements,   The only thing I dialed in here is color temperature.

Oooooh, I would return it. Dim screen like that is not ideal. I mean, I had monitors with low nits in the past and never liked it. TV, in a daylight might be even worse.
I guess if you go for 65" it won't be that big lose, 5" is not that much (are there any girls here?)

And of course Gameboy is very pretty
I'm a bit concerned about those scissors...

Roku is the best platform, period.  They got it right in every way.

After more experience playing with this android TV,  decided to Cancel the Sony ..   Android TV OS does not play nice with PC

On Roku platform.  I can change brightness with 2 button clicks.  This is very useful for PC, because you need different brightnesses for different time of day, and SDR/HDR settings.

On android tv, there's 23 button presses between brightness settings.

Then there's PC support,  on roku platform it supports 10bit input in the 444 chroma mode.  On android tv, it does not.

This holiday we might see TCL 635 below $800,  it has 120hz in 25x14 , so that's a cool feature.

The 625 doesn't have 120hz, but still a good panel for movies.  If it can get to lower than $600 or $600, that's pretty fair, it was this price several months back already.

Hisense don't discount as much during the holidays, I would get an h8g if it gets to bout the same price.

I measured my sitting distance and I'm actually closer than I thought, about 5 feet right now, so I just went with the 50 inch h8g and it was less than $400. 635 is a strong choice because it's a roku tv, but apparently the h9g does 120hz 1440p too

you don't have to use 4k120hz, you can run it lower, it'll still look good.  But 120hz support can't be added to the monitor.

Most games support 4K. they might not show up unless it detects a 4K panel.  But you can use Nvidia super resolution feature in the driver to enable 4K rendering then downsampling, it's basically supersampling.

The latest 6800xt and 3080 will do 4k with playable framerates on most titles.

I was looking at the H6570G from Hisense for my mom since it is the best fit for where it will be mounted (without having to rewire and run the connections - if we did that I could go bigger).  Also it's priced perfectly for her budget ($320 right now, missed it at $287).

Yea it's a good set. moms won't be disappointed.

hisense and tcl give you alot more for the money.  The big brand low ends have way less spec the price.

Yeah I've noticed that and after seeing their panels in retailers I have no problem using them for budget options, since you get a good panel considering their pricing (much like Vizio panels when they first started out).  I bought my Dad a 43" TCL 1080p panel since it was only $150 (this was 3+ years ago) and he wanted something to use as a digital billboard in his gallery to showcase his upcoming documentary, he eventually swiped it to use as his main tv in his bedroom lol.

Ordered 2x of those walmart doorbuster onn 65" for monitors.

Still looking for a wide gamut unit.. but it may not materialize this BF.  There IS the Vizio quantum 65 @ costco, but I realllly don't like the vizio os. Might get it to try it out.
