Longest you've gone w/o bathing?

Got me thinking, what's the longest you can remember not washing your body? A couple days? A week or so? Longer?? What were the circumstances?

Pretty much my deal too.  I think it was 6 or 7 days backpacking in the Sierra Nevadas.

The longest regular stretches were probably a week at a time when staying in India--the water there is so dangerous that opening your mouth when showering can get some really nasty viruses, bacteria, protozoa, and whatnot into your system.

Longest in the US is probably a week when just slammed with website work.  I was so glad I had a 24x7 grocery store because I'd never know what time it was with the shades all down.  I would get on a 30hr day cycle.  Usually my buddy Robbie would have some sort of get together at his house that would get me up and back to normal for a few hours.  Or if I had to go out in public--I always cleaned up for that earlier in the day.

My norm is daily.  I hate when I miss my morning shower.  My day starts out foggy without the morning shower.

If I was working I would be showering, at this point not showering is like a form of silent protest that affects absolutly no one except myself. I swear I'll shower the day they call me back in.

A little over a week, twice. Both times were backpacking. The first time it was too cold to bathe in the lake, and the second I just didn't want to bathe with a bunch of dudes.

Sometimes during the winter I bathe every other day, most usually when I haven't worked up a sweat or anything and can go until the next day.

You get to the point where you stop smelling yourself. Luckily my hair was quite short so that wasn't too horrible, but I still ended up seriously dirty.

Here was me after said three weeks. Oh yeah, and that shirt did not get changed the whole time.

Yeah, we were playing enemy during the exercise and wearing desert combats to discern ourselves from the so called blue-for. Which is ironic because they were wearing the new combats which were meant to work as both desert and woodland camo...

Anyway, yeah, I had to do a lot of work on tanks and just ****. The top is made of a material that is meant to keep you cooler than a regular shirt. Which is why I kept it on the whole time.

I should have mentioned I have the utmost respect for folks who have gone through stuff like that in service of their country.

I gained a new perspective when I spent a summer in Vietnam with an aircon that was on the fritz. So hot I wondered if my balls were going to melt off. And to think our guys lived through that in full BDU's in the jungle with no aircon or even a fan.

Can't imagine how hot the inside of a tank gets in the summer...

Yeahhh, it was extra bad because we only had three showers between the 30 or so of us. There was a lot of mud from clothes and boots, muddy footprints, and I think we may have left half of Alberta in the water system of that place.

I will try and find some more photos, I know I have some of our time out in the field somewhere. There is a good picture of us by our tank with the name sprayed on the side, just need to find them all...

Wow, that had to be almost a mudfest.  Can't wait to see the pics.  I absolutely HATE being that dirty, although I can get accustomed to it if necessary. 

I combed my hair tonight as I usually do before going to bed and it just being a little more oily than normal made me want to almost wash it that second.

You know by showering 3 times a day you are just destroying your skin's natural defenses, right?

It also depends on what one defines as a 'shower'.  I know that without a scrub brush my skin doesn't feel 'clean', so after any trip to India, it doesn't feel like I've taken a shower in however long I was away.

The first thing I enjoy when coming home from India is a shower.  The next thing is an All-American burger.  God Bless America!

Wow, just wow.  That shot of the mountains covered in snow is unreal.  Was that just walking around or did you climb to get that one?

You could just have a picture book!  These pictures speak a thousand words.

Thx, the first one with the birds I did actually get up at 4am, walked to the Potala palace freezing my butt off, and took some shots of the moon and then the sunrise.

But the one with the mountains, I'm ashamed to say, I took in my underwear through a cracked "window".  I was staying in a small shack on the roof of an apartment building in དཀར་མཛེས་རྫོང། (far northwest corner of Sichuan province).  No foreigners are allowed there, but we made friends with a guy who owned one of the apartments.  He snuck me and my two friends in and let us stay in the shack.  It was so cold, with the wind blowing through the cracks, lol.  The next morning I woke up and realized the sun was almost rising.  I was missing it!  I pulled back the board covering the "window" and saw that mountain peeking through the clouds.  Grabbed my tripod and long lens and nailed it.  According to those in the village the mountain doesn't even have a name.  That's how that place is.  A measly 22,000ft/6700m peak doesn't deserve a name.  :eek:

One of these days I'll post some more pictures in a separate thread.  Don't want to muck this one up further.  We need more gross pictures of dudes with no showers!

It depends on the weather. In the summer, I often shower twice a day. In the winter when highest outdoor temperature is still colder than in a refridgerator, if I don't break a sweat then often only every other day.
