Hard to tell when they're ready to come out..   if you leave um in there too long.. they get stringy on the inside, and the texture will taste gritty..

The size just comes by variety.. no magic there...

But knowing when to harvest.. that's xpert knowledge that I do not have..

Sometimes I get good ones..  sometimes I get really tough ones that are gritty.

I assume that since they are a root vegetable, a nice loose soil would help increase the size.

Since apparently it was made a big deal that the first day of Hanukkah and Christmas day are the same day this year, in 2024, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa will line up.
