Yeah I definitely notice people's choice in clothing, everything from shoes to watch! I can appreciate if a girl has a nice pair of shoes, but in the sense that they are good for a woman and not a man, lol.

If a girl has really great style, it goes a long way adding up to the total sum of attractiveness.

yes

But in seriousness, I'm always noticing what people are wearing, head to toe, regardless of gender. I'm a big fan of good fashion, so I'm always watching people ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Why do y'all feel fashionable clothing is so vital..

Have you personally experienced a large difference in the way "others" treat or perceive you based on what you wear.

Man, why do I feel the need to swap out the keycaps on my keyboard to make it more aesthetically pleasing?

As for the difference in treating, I think I'd actually just be more excited that the other person shares a similar interest in fashion, it's more or less that. A car looks better with a new paint job, and people look better in nice clothes.

Generally, yes. Personally I feel better about myself if I'm dressed nicely.

Fit is more something I notice than anything. You could be wearing a $5000 Armani suit, but if it doesn't fit you properly you'll still look like a shlump. And square toed dress shoes. BLECH

Guys,,  so.. this shoe thing..    when you guys get new shoes..  do you expect people to "look" there ?

Is that the idea?

Are you yourselves always looking at -other- people's shoes ?
When I meet a guy, I see them from bottom to top, aren't we all?

First impression is everything, first thing you see at the bottom is shoes, there you go

How much?  In the $200-300 range you can probably go Allen Edmonds or Meermin and get a better shoe.  For a bit more, you can look at Carmina and get a better shoe.  Though delving into leathers like shell cardovan will likely shoot the shoe price up so beware as Carmina has some great shoes made in shell but those prices are higher.

Much as I want the Gaziano & Girling wholecuts, that price is a killer, especially when we're needing a new dishwasher as well.

I'm probably going to pick up some J. Fitzpatrick burgundy cap toes and Meermin tan shoes of some kind or another along with Meermin burgundy and tan belts since they're pretty inexpensive.  Carmina is tempting but they're a bit pricier than I'd want for my adjusted goal.  I'll probably keep lower price for now until I can score a nice higher-end pair later.  Probably Gaziano & Girling or Saint Crispins.  All the stuff I really like from Carmina ends up shell cardovan which bumps the price up a bit much for now.

The Carmina offers some very interesting Cordovan colors which I've never seen before

Yeah jfitzpatrick is also interesting, but I'm not sure what the leather quality is, I know he runs shoesnob but again risking that much money for me is a gamble

Not going for any patina? I used to go crazy over them but after having 3 pairs think I've had enough

I wanna have a look what Berlutti have to offer

I'm actually rethinking the J. Fitzpatrick at the moment as I might be able to pull off a pair or two of Carmina.  I'm debating several pair right now.  I wish they'd do another round of non-shell burgundy shoes as I like those.

No Patina at the moment.  Maybe later.

So would anyone recommend a good pair of athletic/running shoes?

Hmm, these New balance 530 vazee also look nice. http://www.newbalance.com/pd/530-vazee/MVL530.html?dwvar_MVL530_color=White_with_Blue&ICID=VAZEE530_H1_C_3677#color=White_with_Light Grey_and_Teal&width=D

I'm not insanely picky about these kind of shoes. But that grey and teal does look noice.

Hmm, these New balance 530 vazee also look nice. http://www.newbalance.com/pd/530-vazee/MVL530.html?dwvar_MVL530_color=White_with_Blue&ICID=VAZEE530_H1_C_3677#color=White_with_Light Grey_and_Teal&width=D

I'm not insanely picky about these kind of shoes. But that grey and teal does look noice.

One thing you wanna look out is the material

If you're not picky you can get away with synthetic and mesh , but I just love suade/nubuck sneakers :) but they're harder to maintain especially in rain/wet

I'm looking to get in shape considering I'm built like a ****ing stick; I weigh 125 pounds...

So would anyone recommend a good pair of athletic/running shoes?

I don't really have a set budget, I just want some pairs to look at.

Hmmm.....

They don't cost a **** ton and they aren't terrible looking.

I'm pretty much sold.

Well that's fast

I personally prefers New Balance than Asics, they feel more comfortable on my feet
But that's maybe because I have a really flat feet

How tall are those boots exactly? Very nice pair of boots.

I can't wait when I have some extra cash for my first pair of nice boots.

I'm eying a pair of Red Wing beckman 9011's. Mhm.

If I had a lot of money, I would buy a pair of Alden Shell cordovan.

Nice, me too! They are my normal daily foot wear but i had to oil them up and give them a break on the shoe trees for a few days.

They are right at 9" or 22.5cm floor to top of the cuff. 7.5" inside from heel to top.

The beckmans (i really want the Beckman Heritage Chukkas) are also very nice but they don't have wides which i found out i needed after buying my first pair of 899's in an 11D and getting major foot cramps. These are 10EE.
As for cost, i completely understand. I had the same conversation with a younger guy on my hockey team that was drooling over my iron rangers one night. You have to realize that these boots last a really really really long time. And then you do finally wear through the sole? you just get them resoled. I recently tossed on an old pair of ~$120 Dr. Martens and they feel so cheap and flimsy compared to my RedWings. I probably bought 4-5 pairs of docs in my 20's? I'm fairly certain i'll still be wearing my IR's in 10 years.

I've been eyeing Iron Rangers for a while now.  Just waiting for some 2nds to go on a good deal.  Any problems with them on snow/ice?

Definitely a nice pair of boots, boostdemon.

Surprisingly the "cork" soles that are completely slick, actually stick well in wet and even oily situations. The 899's with the vibram hiker soles are terrible in anything but bone dry loose surfaces. You walk into a fast food restaurant, you'll be sliding all over the tile floor. Neither are great on ice, the IR's i wouldn't recommend for snow either but you can get through parking lots and stuff with out dying. The 899's were fine last Feb in 15' of snow while i was in Boston. Depending on where you live and how much of the year you spend in snow/slush, you probably wont want to rely on any leather redwings. My family is in Maine and although I grew up with "Bean Boots" everywhere, the new "muck" boots are way better for getting around outside.

Posted about the Adidas Pure Boost a while back. Ended up picking some up and now after wearing it for a while the boost technology on the bottom is starting to yellow... Any ideas how to clean this or am I SOL?

Edit: Did a little research, such as this thread on Reddit, and it seems that nothing works?

Already tried the obvious soap, brush, and water!

No no, those are my 899's... and that photo was definitely within the first 25miles on them. My Iron Rangers are my daily wear. I haven't taken a fancy photo of those yet. In the winter the Iron Rangers are suited for things like this:

I live in Buffalo so I'd like to say I'm well experienced in the snow and ice; with that said, I haven't had any issues with slipping on snow or ice. Maybe slush, but everyone slips in slush unless you step straight down!

Just do your standard leather care for the boots and they hold up fantastic. After you break them in they're comfortable as hell, and look really damn good. My girlfriend is obsessed :p

What's the most you guys have spent on a pair of boots/shoes?

I know I should just put away some money and get a pair of Red Wing Beckmans for $300, but I still yearn for a pair of these, but they cost way more than what I could afford. http://www.carminashoemaker.com/cordovan-shoes/jumper-codovan-burgundy-80179

I know that's an insane amount for boots, but it still doesn't make me want them any less.  :))

Where is jorik, I know he has some pretty high end shoes..   :)

My Red Wing boots were $320... Most I've spent on boots so far, but remember that usually the nicer quality boots will last much longer with good care. Really depends on what environment you use them in though, easier to make boots last down South than in the North
