I don't have the original to compare it to so I placed it next to a beige one. Looks nice on my Noppoo!

I'm a bit more excited to get $750 $15 worth of these caps than the EK CC

That's exactly the thing.  When Cherry red Esc keys were still rare, they were expensive and everyone clamoured to see pictures of the few that existed.

Now they are relatively inexpensive and readily available everyone has 2 or 3 or more of them.

If Clacks were so readily available, everyone would be, like, meh.

And thus, DeBeers' iron-fisted control of the diamond market.  You know "diamonds -- expensive because carbon is sooooo rare!"

Ah, but is it a replica?  If it was made with the original equipment?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Wouldn't really call it a replica. More like a revival.

My sincere condolences to ones who spent hundred(s) for one of those.

The only difference I can see is from the bottom. New ones have horizontal lines where the two shots meld, vintage ones have a grid. At least I think so...I don't have a vintage one, and my new ones haven't arrived yet.

If cherry was buying the DS caps from GMK all along then these would be the same caps as before. Just a new run.

Other way round. GMK acquired Cherry's original tools, so yes they are essentially the same caps.

My signature hasn't changed since 2012. I should really update it.

I got mine today - posted a pic over at the "Got in the Mail" thread.  It's definitely the original cherry molds as I'm comparing older pics.  If you'll notice, each keycap varies slightly in the molding process, depending on the ratio of white/red plastic, so some reveal the injection grid more than others.  The basic pattern seems the same though.

Got mine today.  Meh.

And as foretold, EK sent me some wrong items in the order, but not a black skull by mistake.  :(  Just the wrong arrow keys.

The universal spacebar is indeed nice, however.

when you receive this ESC keycap, post some pictures.
I think it'll be same quality as original but I just want to see the detail.

Just got mine in. Here's a closeup for details.

I email EK and requested to combine shipping with the CC I won. But because of that they delayed the processing of my order. Only got tracking on Thursday.
By the way, anyone know how long it takes for PayPal to refund me? I use a debit card on my account.

It will go into your PP balance, it's as fast as whomever is refunding you.   Then it's a few days once you initiate a transfer back to your bank account.

Same happened to me but only one day difference between shipping each order. The five red ESC arrived before my Oktoberfest Topre which was sent before them. I received it after 4-5 days of receiving the red ESC.

The "underside white striping" are never the same. These keys are made with the same equipment bought from the original Cherry key manufacturers. Quality may differ because a variety of reasons, but to simplify, it was a different run so it is not identical.

Actually, facade is an English word with an English spelling that is independent from the spelling of the French word from which it derived. :P

Rarity

Before EK came out with theses, there were only a few sets available and very rarely came up for sale.
