Can people with face-blindness be racist?
« on: Thu, 12 April 2018, 22:35:15 »
Or rephrased, could one show in-group preferences (based on visual appearance) if all faces of all groups equally generic? Could one use faces to even determine a "group" at that point. Would the color have ANY meaning at that point?

Discuss....

People with face blindness have issues connecting visuals with their memory, they can see faces but can't remember who they belong to. So they can plainly see race just as anyone else can. A lot of people try to associate someone's voice or other feature like weird hair and even race which can help to trigger the memory of who they are talking to, so if anything being a minority would likely help someone with prosopagnosia remember who you are.

Racism is pretty broad.

There's the innate kin-selective aspect , where one biological line selects for similar traits

Then there's the Cognitive side, which functions more like a protective trade-policy.

Racism is not without base/utility, it's just not good policy, as it does not fully utilize competitive advantage..

Because of how bad things got in the days (before) nuclear weapons,  people thought they COULD WIN a global war.. So they utilized Racism as a background foreign policy.

They tried a bunch of times..   Eventually, the big weapons were invented, and world peace was achieved.

There's No Such Thing as Race... Or Is There?

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
