Does ABS cap have stronger smell than pbt?

I bought a vintage cherry recently. And my first impression is that there is a strong smell from the keyboard. Very hard to describe, at first I thought it was the keyboard being dirty. But then I clean the board + the caps, but the smell is still lurking.

So, wierdly enough, I smell my alps board which has pbt caps for comparision. And yeah the smell seems similiar, except that the cherry one with abs is much more noticeable.

Just want to ask if anyone every had this kind of experience, or I am just not throroughly cleaning the kb, or it can be st else entirely.

not sure.  my vintage boards all have strong smell.  It's a "new electronics" smell.  I figured it was from the solder.

Cherry key caps do not smell. I have many vintage Cherry key cap sets and no one smells. Yours probably does because it comes from an environment with some source with strong odor that contaminated it.

Well the difference in keycaps is the only thing i can think of that is why i ask. In that case what method would you recommend to use to clean it? I took off the keycaps and wash them, also cleaned the board off debris with brush and cloth.

My NIB pingmaster had a very strong smell that went away with time. Smelled pretty good actually

Yep yep.  That's the sweet sweet smell i crave.
