I don't appreciate my first thread being deleted. First impressions....

(This is not intended to be rude, sorry for venting. I need some help with a few answers.) This is why I don't post on forums. Mods just delete stuff and then don't even message you to let you know what you did wrong..... I don't appreciate that at all. Not very helpful at all when you are legitimately trying to be included in a community.

Puts a sour taste in my mouth from the get go.

I really don't appreciate the lack of courtesy.

I just wanted an answer about whether or not it was okay to have somebody else post a GB for you..... I started a kickstarter thinking that I would be able to post on here, low and behold there is a post wall for new users. I think that's stupid, specially now that I can't do a thing about stopping the Kickstarter.

Some actual help would be nice.

I do understand a need for it, to keep the spammers and malicious people at bay, but how long is it actually supposed to be? I thought it was just a month, now it's two?

could I post information reguarding the kickstarter in a different thread, like Interest check? I don't know what it standard for this community, esp. because I'm not doing a GB out of the forum and am using a different platform. Has anybody else posted from kickstarter on here? I would assume somebody has.

I was inspired by my work place to create it, so with help from several other people I work with (and a slack group of over 110 people), I set this up, over the break, but they haven't even been back at work to know that I went ahead and started it.

I should have just waited, but if we can get it going still, I would appreciate it.

Jamster, don't be rude. I didn't post the kickstarter. I was asking if I could have somebody else post it, or if they would get in trouble. I don't do the forum thing, man. I have strict firewalls at work so even if I wanted to, I can't visit the site. There had never been a point for me to post, or do anything until a few weeks ago.

It is an uncourteous thing to not only not help a person who is ignorant of a community standard, but to delete it without having any form of an answer or direction.

I don't get it, why kickstarter rather than a normal IC then getting a well known vendor to sell your set through? Sus AF considering how easy it is to run with the money on those platforms IMHO.

Some feedback from a disinterested observer- that opening post was full of passive aggressive entitlement. Totally turned me off whatever the Kickstarter was going to be about.

The forum, the internet, the world in general... doesn't really owe you anything. Most people seem to be able to fit into various fora without needing special attention and hand holding, the obvious thing to do is just read around and figure out the norms. That you (or someone else) wants to use it to promote a Kickstarter without ever bothering to participate here doesn't make it the problem or the fault of the mods.

I'll duck out now instead of going all 'keyboard warrior'.  I have no dog in this race and have better things to be doing with my Monday morning.

Because my employer requires proof that I am not making money on the copyrighted portions, which are the artisans.  This website is also blocked on their firewall, so they wouldn't be able to monitor it. I have not had any issues on Kickstarter. They actually require you to give them a card to do chargebacks to, and they allow chargebacks for any reason. Indiegogo is the bad one for people running with the money.

The last thing I wanted was a cease and desist from my employer...

So I did a Kickstarter instead.

My whole point is that a community member of Geekhack reached out to me about posting it here, that there would definitely be some interest. It is perfectly fine with me if the community doesn't want me to circumvent rules, I'm just trying to get some answers, so that I can learn about where it should actually be posted, because I'm not actually running a GB through this forum, and there doesn't seem to be an external links section. I would like to start a conversation here about it. I just don't think it should be in that particular locked down thread.
