Making my gaming area more Smexy!
« on: Thu, 17 January 2013, 16:11:20 »
So this is a sort of on going project which I have started and as you can see, my current work area is rather boring. The table is actually a TV stand which was too high for my TV so it got demoted to PC desk. What I am planning is to have a large backdrop behind my gaming set up with something beautiful, so I thought I would make this little project into a thread so I can take some advice on board. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: I agree with missalaire (from the post below), I like the second image the best (scenery from BF3)

I live in the beautiful country-side :D if I move 2-3 feet to my left I can view natural beauty out my window (I shall endeavour to put a picture up tomorrow as its currently 11pm and snowing) but I admit, I find pixels more appealing, to be honest with you, growing up here has probably spoilt me.

Second photo looks cool. But maybe you should look into making a large poster of real world scenery.

I don't want real world scenery, I live it in :3 ill try and get some photos up tomorrow although we are predicted a couple of feet of snow so that's not too likely, and I prefer the beauty of the game engine, I think it's a master piece. :D /GeekRant

Yeah I have a 6870 too and tried running BF3 on ultra, it works, but I only get 20-30 fps on average.

im amazed at how you can use a tv stand as a computer desk.

IMO the desk of a computer is extremely important if you're going to spend hours on it everyday.. I used to have one similar to that.. Realized that the awkward posture and the fact that I can't put my legs below the desk kills my body

To be honest, its the perfect height, i rest my feet on the legs of my chair and it is the best size, not sure how. I presume pure luck, but I don't know. Maybe when I am bed ridden in 30 years time I will regret it :( .

Hmmmm what's your budget look like, and how much room do you have? It looks like you're in the attic?

My budget is about £15 haha ($25) all i want is a big f*ck off poster :D But this project may be put on hold for a better one soon :D My attic is pretty large about 15x10ft (by a rough guestimate without moving from my seat)

The flag was just to emote some patriotism from my friends over the pond, and put them in a good mood! :D

Sorry for multi-post but these images are huge!
This is the view, it has snowed for the past 24 hours, never usually looks like this!

You would totally benefit from an "L" shaped glass desk like I have (that way you have one side of it against the window, and the other towards the TV), but goes a bit outside your budget ^^' Also considering some kind of painting (they're getting really good now in the sense that you don't need a million coats and they usually come with primer mixed in) would be an awesome idea too, would totally be fantastic to do some kind of multi-tone kind of thing (the actual roof a cool colour like grey or lime-green then the actual "wall" the opposite).

So something like a 125-150 pound budget could work wonders for you!

P.s. I was in Scotland few weeks ago for vacation, was constantly raining. So I'm surprised at the snow hah :P

P.p.s I remember telling myself that if I ever had an attic space, I would do this thing I once saw which involved installing rock climbing rocks on the ceiling. Looks amaaaaazing haha :P

Haha, its always raining in Scotland, i think it still is but its snowing in 90% of England at the moment :D I love the glass desk idea, although by the widow is my bed, but that can always be re-arranged. And I can save up for a while lol!

that's the rock climbing thing if you fancy climbing (I've seen better version of it).

And here is another suggestion (I personally have this in my room on the ceiling, and it looks FANTASTIC). Should be more than enough place that carry it (military stores)

I do actually quite like that netting :D I have used it before on exercise, so I know how large they can be so I shall have to work out a decent size but as soon as I do! Cheers! I am thinking about making a little pod style thing! :D
