Question for PBT Pure owners: can it accept LEDs?
« on: Fri, 07 September 2012, 11:44:30 »
I've asked this question to qtan when he started to sell the Pure w/ PBT caps, but he didn't know the answer. I really like the PBT caps they are selling on the non-LED version of the Pure, and apparently they don't have plans to sell the caps separately, so that's the only way to get them. But I really want my Pure to be backlit, so what I'd like to know is if anyone can test their non-LED Pure to see if it still has the traces to power the LEDs or if they were removed from that PCB design?

Sell your current board, and buy the led version.

You might think it's fun, or cheaper to mod the leds yourself, but trust me, it's tedious, to the maxxx.

LOL I've built 2 Phantoms, desoldered 5 keyboards, and then replaced all of the switches on 1 of the Phantoms in the last 6 weeks...I'm not really afraid of soldering a couple handfuls of LEDs. :) Plus, I don't have a Pure right now anyway, if I had the non-LED Pure, I would just test it. I'm asking because I don't want to buy 2 keyboards if the non-LED version can't be modded, but I really want those PBT caps. ;)
