CM QFR reds or Rosewill RK-9000RE

Hey i wonder which one is better in your opinion since they are both $90 on amazon right now.

I would go with the QFR unless you have a need for a numpad.

CM quickfire.

I can no longer recommend a Rosewill. Their latest batch has been switched to an OEM that I've never heard about before, and quality of this new OEM looks like it has decreased. CM quickfire also has better implementation of the detachable cable where it won't prematurely break.

It still sounds expensive for a QFR.  Usually they are around $80, or $60 on special, or $50 on super special.

$90 would be expensive for a QFR with Cherry MX Blue switches, but the price is in line with the other switch models. Lowest price for the QFR Red and brown was $79 back in July and November respectively on Amazon. Quickfire Blue lowest price was back in august for $63.30

I own both a CM QFR Red and Rosewill RK-9000RE and I really really really wish I had just bought 2 WASD keyboards from WASDkeyboards.com instead.   I made a tragic mistake.  But I learn from my mistakes.

Rosewill RK9000 is still the same costar unless you have a proof. The backlight one is made by irocks.

I would go for CM out of those also. I don't like fullsize much, but then I think TKL is a huge space waster these days too.

For the millionth damn time, any OEM can build to any quality, QC and QA along with build quality is based on what the OEM's customer orders, period. If the customer says "cut corners" then the OEM cuts corners. If the customer says "I want solder so clean it can be used as a mirror" then the OEM does it.

ANYHOW, Nashville is not an OEM. Costar seems to be using cities with music history for product codenames. The CST-104 is "Sydney" (Sydney Opera House) so "Nashville" would certainly fit in with this scheme. Don't believe me? Pop open a Thermaltake Meka G1. The controller is clearly marked CST-104 "Sydney." So it's most likely a new Costar build which has had the quality slashed per NewEgg's demands.

Just FYI: I bought a Rosewill RK-9000RE from Amazon for $70.00. It came with a suspicious wobbly connector.   It worked great for 25 days. I am typing on it now.  It sux.  Terribly.  It constantly drops chars and flashes lights at me dies and just generally make very angry.  Sometimes I can wiggle the cable just right and it will work for a few mins really well.  Then it just starts #$!@$ up again.

I also bought a Rosewill RK-9000RE for $55.00 about 14 days after the first one.

That was 12 days before the first one became demonically posessed.  Sometimes my Rosewill thinks the ALT key is stuck down and every key I press makes wild crazy stuff happen in whatever software I am using.  Its ridiculous.

I regret paying $55.00.  I regret paying $70.00.   Considering $90.00 is ridiculous.

$40.00 would be a fair price.  You could just strip it down for parts.  They actually sold the Cherry Blacks for $40.00 for a while.  At that price I should have bought some just for the keycaps because I need spare caps for scientific experiments.

I am certain they will be on sale again in the $40.00 to $55.00 range.

Yeah, the one I'm talking about is yours that I opened up and modded. No worries though, I replaced that whole PCB with a PCB from a few months ago. It's reinforced with superglue at the USB port.

This is probably closer to the truth. Costar uses several different factories to make their boards. They range from junk to good. Being a "Costar" doesn't automatically make it as good as a Filco.

edit: not that I think Filcos are end all be all in quality. They're at least consistent.

QuickFire Blue was $54 on Amazon for a little while a few months ago.  The CM online store sells or used to sell refurbished ones for $50.

Rosewills last.  C'mon.  My 2012 Rosewill RK-9000RE keyboard lasted 25  days.  That was 25 days of cherry red bliss!  What do u expect for $70.00?

I just bought a Quick Fire off of Amazon for a little over $60. I have Amazon Prime so it was free shipping. I ****ing love the keyboard. First off I have two Filcos and if you told me it was a Filco I might believe you. It has a very nice weight to it, not as heavy as the Filco was close, and nice rubber feet similar to the Filcos. Also the new batches don't come with the logo.  Detachable cord and a PS2 adapter. I highly recommend the Quick Fire. The only thing that is bad about the Quick Fire is the keycaps. They are not high quality with a shorter height. The shorter height doesn't really have a difference when typing. The price is very low so I understand they had to cut down on quality keycaps. I was planning to buy new keycaps anyways and for now I'm going to switch he keycaps with one of my Filcos. Please get the Quick Fire the Rosewill is **** compared to it.GG HF.

Are you sure the QFR uses shorter keycaps?

I never heard such a thing before.

Short keycaps do mess up typing when u install O-rings.  O-rings need normal tall keycaps.

I don't about that. I've heard of people putting o-rings on the QFR without a problem. I also have the QFR and just ordered o-rings. Ill update you when they come in.

It does. Lower profile caps have shorter stems, so thick O-rings on cherry profle or thick PBC caps from imsto will change the cap's height.
