classicalmusichack: schubert's lost love
« on: Sun, 13 January 2013, 19:41:10 »
herr franz has been my favorite composer since my teens, but something i didn't know was that despite his early death and well-known lifetime of malaise and illness (reminiscent of another of my favorite franz': one kafka), it is thought that he was actually driven by a single muse, a noblewoman he served as a tutor for in the german countryside;

http://www.mozartforum.com/VB_forum/showthread.php?t=3258

in particular (from the above): "The two main notes in the first theme in the Fantasy [in C major, op.17] of course mean 'Caroline-Franz-Caroline-Franz'."

anyway, fun fact for the day! feel free to turn this into a general music thread if you'd like.

to all the brilliant friends who have left us, and all the students who climb on their shoulders.

So, you're saying composers only do their stuff, when they're horny.... hmm.....

Chopin was sort of similar- he had a thing for a chick who went by George Sand. One of my favorite composers. I'm also a fan of Rachmaninoff.
Risen from the dead for a model F.

Wyse buy colors were GSY for the dark grey, GBA for the light grey, and BBI for the fonts.

i've never really identified much with chopin; he just wasn't miserable enough.

I don't think any of the great composers were "that" miserable.. Sure, they lived in a more turbulent time in our history, but their lives due to their skills were FAR above the average of their time also...

So at the very worst, they were a "whiny" upper-middle class...

Mkawa, y u always mad at me bro?

Schubert was on the classical music station that wakes me up each morning. I enjoyed it, but I only heard the tail end of the piece and cut to commercial. Bummer.
Wish I had some gif or quote for this space, but I got nothing
