Tenkeyless OR Mini keyboard, WITH arrows keys...
« on: Tue, 12 February 2013, 13:01:55 »
Trying to find a way to search for a list of keyboards, using DeskThority, GeekHack and the web, but not easy...
- Keyboards with key switches (not rubber dome).
I am aware of o-rings for MX switches (and have tested them).
I'll be making some (for my Cherry ML keyboard) when I find a good thin foam or bicycle tube
What's a good place, to find a thin sheet of foam?.
- Some feedback and/or click.
- Ten-keyless or Mini (but with physical arrow keys, not Fn arrows)
- Old or new, no prob.

yea, bike tube would be good.. I haven't thought of that.. depends on how soft though.. do they still use soft inner tubes?

I thought they might've switched since I was a kid.

Filco, CMStorm for TKL.
As far as mini layouts you're looking at Choc Mini, KBT RACE (not personally recommended), MXMini if you can find one, as well as various clones of the MX Mini layout like LZ.

There is also a PCB project at DT called Hyper that should be entering buy phase in a couple of months. Some of the layouts provided have arrow keys... check in the classifieds section over there for the IC thread and layout pics.

For your ML board you could try a thin sheet of rubber. you might need to punch holes for the keycap mounts but i'd guess that they might just poke themselves through when you're inserting the board. makes sure to keep the rubber stretched out somewhat so it doesn't bunch up and interrupt any key function.

The next Poker is also supposed to come out with dedicated arrow keys. Leopold will be releasing one next month I believe as well.

That thing is too weird... Compared to the poker, It just takes up more space for no reason.

Nobody really seems to mention the Keycool 84s  anymore, is there a reason for this? Iirc, the build quality is/was on par with the newer Choco Mini, and some only preferred the Coco Mini because of the stock keycap profile.

Reasons and/or source? I haven't been on top of recent info on them, but up to around half a year after release they were looking like a good recommendation for SFF keyboards; I also see that they now offer POM and PBT caps stock.
