Seriously?  We're at the point where I have to try and wake my brain up and do math to figure out what ratio these are at?

27" is 16:9

30" is 16:10

I recently got an apple cinema display 24 basically for free and am really enjoying the 16:10 aspect ratio. I wanted to give flat panels another go, but I'm still favor CRT's. The best difference is it doesn't heat up my room as fast.

I'll consider getting one of these.

I believe this is a Korean made IPS panel, with a monoprice rebrand on it. I researched these quite a bit a while ago. They are basically A- IPS panels. Apple, Dell, LG, etc will only use the A+ panels. So it is possible that these have slight defects (dead/stucks pixels, backlight bleed, etc). Also, the On Screen Display and setup options leave a little to be desired.

That being said, I bought 2 of them from Micro Center ( http://www.microcenter.com/product/384780/EQ276W_27_IPS_LED_Monitor ) and I love them. Neither had any dead/stuck pixels, and having the resolution is amazing.

it's not only the amount of defects that differentiate these panels from "premium" expensive versions.

the cheaper panels also use cheaper backlighting solutions which does not offer the range of colors of their more expensive iterations.

I bought one of these as well. While mine does have 1 stuck pixel the issue that bothered me the most was having the power supply go out twice. The second time I had to ship the whole monitor at my expense. Came back with the same panel with the stuck pixel. You get what you pay for.
