Getting used to height of mechanicals from low profile kbs?

I'm kindof used to low profile kbs at work/home. Since cherry mx switches activate at after only 2mm, it wouldn't be too much a problem changing over to mechanicals is there?

The biggest issue is probably that the keys are so much higher. Solution: wrist rest.

Well ideally you're suppose to type with your wrist hovering.  That aspect took a little bit of getting used to, but after that it's like no problem.

Because the height is actually pretty close to standard rubber dome so you should already be familiar with it somewhat.

I went from an Apple alunimium keyboard (very low) to Ducky Shine (very high).  It took a little while to accustomise, but I don't notice the difference now.  When I do switch back to the Apple keyboard, it feels like I am typing on the desk.  I prefer the higher mechanicals.

Thin scissor switched keyboards and laptops are alot lower than standard rubber domes.

Profile has been the hardest thing for me with Mechanical Keyboards.  Most of them are like typing on an 80's phone book.

You could create a rectangular well in your desk and put the keyboard into it.  It the well was as deep as the front of the case, it would appear that the switches were mounted in the table.

Can't get much thinner than that!

when you attempt to learn the hover technique make sure ur shoulders, specifically rear deltoids and traps are relaxed..

be mindful of this, otherwise, the technique could cause problems.

Travel seems a lot further, especially on linear switches. Most laptop keyboards actuate at bottom out, which is roughly similar to the 2mm that cherry MX needs. You can add o rings or try a low profile mechanical like a G84 (cherry ML) keyboard.

Orings can reduce the travel if necessary..

But I've kinda grown to like more travel, because at the end of the day... what's the rush...

Pressing the key down is kinda the-fun no?
