Spock is so impressive in every respect that he could essentially replace everyone other than the captain..

He could easily replace the captain, also.

no.. he's only interesting as a sidekick character.. and he could not be put in a higher rank,

if he was the captain, there'd be no show,  because he'd just run the whole thing with perfect efficiency.. nothing would ever go wrong.. and there'd be no one who could tell him what to do..

Without the relatively-speaking- ' Dumass that is Kirk... Spock is just a dull rock...

Spock, with Data as a close second.

I hate Data. And he was far worse after his emotions got partially activated.

When they were dreaming up the next generation, they asked "How do we replace Spock?"

They used at least 4 characters: a second-in-command, a science officer, "the logical one", and a mind-reader, and still couldn't pull it off.

I consider the campy quirky side of Spock when he would succumb to his primitive emotions, fall in love, cry, or connect with hippies to be his greatest virtue.

Data has his moments, like when he is playing at Sherlock Holmes and pulls out a huge magnifying glass to inspect the fish tank in Picard's office.  And his cat poem.  And his acting.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

The saddest thing about Star Trek is stealing other people's storylines because "Data" is just another "Pinocchio" due to it's desire to be human.  They don't go far in telling new stories in that show because telling the same old style fables seem quite popular in the US at that time.

The single best character which peaked my boyish interest at that time period was Jadzia Dax, her face with that gorgeous textural tat running either side of her face and neck drove me insane because she once said that the pigmentation keeps going all the way down there and ends at a very discrete spot.  Almost like a sexy highlight in case you needed directions (rriiigggghhhttttt)  :thumb: .

Also liked "Star Trek : Enterprise" episodes in which Captain Archer's dog "Porphos" acted better than the rest of the cast.  One up for the dogs but thumbs down on the lame human actors.

Well.. I think we shouldn't be toooo hard on the humans..

Because it's much harder to be a great human actor.. because the audience are themselves human and very good interpreters...

Whereas, if your character is a space alien.. then the audience automatically accept the illogical and awkward mannerisms..

In this way.. the Alien actor just needs to be weird and unyielding... while human actors have to be both themselves and not themselves, a much more difficult task...

Worf

Show Image

Because:

1. He's Klingon
2. Tactical officer, which in my mind is another word for security
3. He has to deal with humans

PS: How the heck do you embed you tube clips? this one isn't working :(

Ya it's buggy sometimes.
This clips is definitely one of my favorites.

Ah poor Worf. Well I believe he does eventually makes captain of his own ship at some point.

I liked that sexy, loner, space-pirate guy.  Ham Solo.  I think he was the original bacon of hope.

It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

There was a mention a few years ago that they wanted to start a Capt Worf series.
But hey, he was already an ambassador and he could have been the Klingon emperor!

Trois mom. She wanted the jean luc pi-cock bad. And he shoulda gave it to her.

But in all seriousness, Picard.

My favorite episode was when the probe linked with Picards mind and he sort of dreamed he was trapped on another planet but he had a wife and ended up spending his entire life there, had kids and learned to play the flute. He died of old age and the beam from the probe was broken and he woke up on the bridge. Then found his flute on the probe and could play. Just a beautiful story.
