Plastic surgery in Korea...
« on: Wed, 23 April 2014, 01:13:14 »

(random korean music plays in the background, stop button on bottom left)

Thoughts? I think it's crazy how much plastic surgery can do nowadays. It's also pretty ridiculous how similar-looking they end up. Some of these women/men weren't even ugly to begin with

I think unless you have suffered some kind of horrible accident, or have a birth defect or something like that (physical medical condition) I think plastic surgery is ****ed up.

Like great case in point is  female Olympic gold medalist (or something) swimmer Rebecca Adlington. She's won two gold medals at the Olympics, two! Yet was so insecure about her nose that she got a comedian fired over a joke about it and then got it surgically altered. I think it's the saddest thing in the world and isn't the way to deal with that as if it's not your nose it will be something else... and like in Korea where it's taken to extreme ****ed up levels you end up with people trying to all look like the same hideous manufactured 'perfect look'... instead of just learning to be happy with your self and happy in your own skin.

I think people who are considering plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons should have to take therapy first.

In some cases it can vastly improve one's life quality. Personally I gained a ton of weight as a teenager due to medical negligence. Years later I was able to lose 189lbs but was left with a lot of extra... skin shall we say. I was able to get surgery covered, and since then my emotional state and confidence has increased dramatically (even if I have put a little of the weight back on over the past decade :P )

not that I support it, but what do you think about being someone extremely ugly to the point where you can't live life comfortably because everyone stares at you all day? would essentially becoming "fake" on the outside still be ****ed up?

I think some people live such ****ty lives due to the lottery that is appearance, I wouldn't judge anyone for going down this way. I do agree it's pretty sad to see someone stress over little things when they look fine, but there are some issues therapy can't fix :'(

pretty sure eyelid surgery is the top cosmetic surgery in the world, beating out rhinoplasty and what most associate with it, breast enlargement. my sister in law got eyelid surgery, twice, the first time one eyelid was a bit off kilter so she went to korea to get it done properly. she got 2 weeks off flew to korea, (she already had an appointment and doctor) went to gangnam... if that sounds familiar to you, it should gangnam is from the 2012 song gangnam style, particularly gangnam is basically the korean beverly hills and has the most cosmetic offices per square block. she stayed in a hotel for a week to recover and it took 6 months for the swelling to go down.

i mean if you have a "jew nose" why not file it down to normal porportions? if will smith wasn't insanely famous and rich, his dumbo ears on anyone else would make ppl cry.

of course there are idiots who want to "have jolie's lips" and "pam's breasts", but if you were born with a cleft palate, that'd be a shame to grow up with.

i may be biased but every before and after (at least the ones that loaded...) from that link were for the better.

I'm not sure how it works, but excess skin is a problem of loosing weight too quickly??

That said, I think that if your a person who has gained weight, alot of weight (if its not a medical condition ofc (which most of the time it isn't)) then if you have the option to quickly get rid of it all without any work, ofc you'll do it but then have little incentive to diet properly and exercise... but if you have to work really ****ing hard to get rid of said weight, you're more likely or then keep that weight off and pass on proper dieting to your friends/family etc etc... does that make sense?

I don't know about your condition or anything but I think that people who take the quick easy way out are often worse off for doing so

...I don't know what that means, people aren't born in binary states of attractive and unattractive... we are all born differentially... and we are all attracted to different things/people.
We all have insecurities but physically changing the way you look to appease others, especially bullies is not how you deal with problems and not how you would fix the insecurity problems you have, least IMO...

I don't think you guys have seen these girls up close..

First they slab on standard porn makeup, eyeliner, darken bridge of nose, darken cheeks, a bit of eye shadow

Then, When they take photos..

They take 20 of them, then select the best angle (facial slimming), dullest lighting or overexposed (to covers skin imperfection).

However in real life, these girls look extremely (Uncanny)...     because it is incredibly difficult to balance facial geometry across different angles..

let's say the doctor gets her nose the perfect width from the front, will that that also work for her side view, what about 45*  and other angles..

So you see... it can be done.. but the Majority of it without camera magic, I would call butchering...

What makes it worse, if the doctor DOES get it looking good in one angle, but less so in the other..  the Contrast immediately says unnatural...

I got nothing against cosmetic surgery.. I think for uneducated women especially, it's almost essential, because they must sell their youth quickly before it spoils.. and a full refit takes ~ 2 years to heal including tuneups..

There is also a large wave of lower income class asians sending their daughters under the knife at ages as young as 6 for the eyelid surgery...    The reason is, if you get it younger, the face will grow into it, and it'd look more natural...

I don't think this is a problem as long as, as the guy mating with a modified female knows what he's getting...  This is under the assumption that most men would care about the genetic outcome of their offspring...

It can however be argued that because our population is so large, it's no longer imperative to select for these things... but...  i'm sure in the back of people's mind,  they still tend to adhere to natural programming..

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Reminds me of this little episode in China...

This was a setup put together by the cosmetic surgery company to generate sales...

They used a little drama to draw people in..   but ultimately when (less than beautiful) girls see the result, they're all thinking... ****... why not me....    and then every female who may just need a slight modification thinks,  well, I don't need that much done, so if that clinic is so good, i might as well get it done there.

That's such an odd concept. I used to know a black girl who got her skin lightened every couple months. People are weird, although I can't really talk. Some friends got me a coupon for a free anus bleaching years ago as a joke, not thinking I'd use it. Well the joke was on them when I had the prettiest butthole at the ball ;)

Personally I am happy with how my face looks and wouldn't change anything. I won't lie though, some of those photos were a big improvement. Like others have said I don't think every girl should rush of to get surgery and try to look like the same model.

The beauty contest is a good example of that. They all end up looking extremely similar and have nothing that sets them apart (besides there hair). I'm not a big fan of the extremely pale looking faces with tons of makeup. Having some skin tone is good :)

The beauty contest is a good example of that. They all end up looking extremely similar and have nothing that sets them apart (besides there hair). I'm not a big fan of the extremely pale looking faces with tons of makeup. Having some skin tone is good :)

This is not a good argument ..

Most sports cars have the same shape / proportions...

---Beautiful women also adhere to a general set of rules.

Larger wheel sizes vs body                 (breast implant)

Spoilers                                            (dolled up hair)

Low to the ground                                  (low body fat)

height relative to width is much greater           (waist hip ratio)

Cars are manufactured beauty by humans in a workshop

Korean Dolls are manufactured beauty by humans in a hospital

People are made in human mothers

The Materials from which we build cars are mined from mother earth...

What's the difference...  There is none...

Given limited conscious capacity, humans arbitrarily draw lines in the sand only to be reminded by the incessant tides that the world beneath us is in constant motion.

If I told my other half that she looks like a car, I don't think I'd survive very long.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I am considering getting a surgical scar on my torso checked out to see if it could be improved with some minor plastic surgery. It is a bit ugly now, there having been an infection in it after the first surgery. As it is now, I don't want to show my bare chest in public.

if you guys are curious and want some immediate, maybe wrongish? but who cares answers on asian surgery (i'm not a doctor or whatever, just part of the culture). i remember my first exposure to cosmetic surgery, i was maybe 9 or 10, and my mom came home in a taxi which was weird since she drives, with those big ass old ppl 80's (it was the 80s) sunglasses and couldn't see. basically she had eyelid surgery and she had to recoup for a few days.

i'm 10 and thinking, omg wtf happened to mom!

like i said most common is eyelid surgery, specifically to get a double eyelid. vs, not having one and having a monolid.

i'm told it makes a big difference not only in how the eye looks but in the application and "good looking ness" of makeup being applied.

on different cultural notes (since i have many indian/bengali... wtf i call them terrorist friends)
a BIG product is lightening or whitening creams

the lighter/whiter you are the more well off you're perceived.

remember in mono cultures (basically everywhere NOT america) where there is no melting pot of cultures, they find something within the race to pick on, for indians/paki's the darker you are, the more poorer you come off.

pretty sure in thailand (the home of the lady boys, wtf is up with that horrid place?) lighter just means more beautiful, recent **** ups

OK.... now we have to see it... You can pm us links to the pic if you don't want to public-it on GH.

I saw this a lot in Korean news papers, because it is highly debated as to whether it should be aloud as it apparently deceives people, or some crap like that, if people want to spend insane amounts of money on things that essentially don't matter then that's cool we pay footballers after all

The reality is.. it matters a-great-deal...

Lets say you interview 2 people, who are equally capable..

1 is very ugly...  who would you hire.... (you might not even think about it long enough)  the fact that one person is better looking will automatically coarse your brain into thinking that person is more capable..

A fact of distribution,  MOST people fall into the middle, and are unexceptional...

This is why (positive-uniqueness) within ANY metric is so coveted...

It is always a win for the person who can positively-standout..  the usefulness of that facet which makes him shine is simply that he can be seen against a background..

The world only has depth through contrast..  any --majority-- will form the background to which we all aspire to leave.....
