Feenix Nascita - Not as good as Advertised
« on: Sat, 18 October 2014, 08:42:29 »
So a small bit of back story. I was looking around for the perfect mouse and I saw that Feenix were hitting a lot of the major streamers on Twitch with these gifts, promotional gifts I suppose. So I was looking around for reviews and there were a few here and there, it looked really good, so I went ahead and ordered it from Feenix themselves. (They only sell it straight from their own online stores).

I got the mouse in March, around march 4/5th, I believe and it was great at first, I've had it 7 months and the side of it has already eroded away/pealed away, however you want to put it, yet I had my Zowie EC2 eVo for almost twice that and that has only a slight erosion mark on the side of the mouse.

Now I just find it a little bit upsetting that I've not even had the mouse 12 months and it's already showing signs of extreme wear and tear, despite on their website they distinctly state:

Quote
Feenix Anti-Sweat and Anti-Slip surface material provides a comfortable grip.

Now, other than this small issue, the mouse is fantastic, but I just thought I'd have a little rant about it here. (I'll post a picture of the side of the mouse in a few minutes).

Have any of you guys bought a product only to find out it was not as good as advertised and it started to break, fade away or whatever months later?

My Sensi Raw's mouse wheel is broken, it still works but every 5-6 scroll on the wheel scrolls the wrong direction. Super annoying.

It's a common flaw on the Sensei mice I believe. My Sensei's mouse scroll has the same problem after about a year and half. Hoping my new Rival doesn't have that issue...

On the other hand, my Xai hasn't had a flaw developed besides the rubberized coating wearing away from my corrosive touch in the last 4 years.
Someday somebody will best me, but it won't be today, and it won't be you.

Yeah I heard it was a common problem when I googled it, still kinda sucks though. I like the mouse a lot other than that though. That said I'll probably go with the new Logitech G mice, people seem to be pretty happy with those, and if they are anywhere close to the old G5, I canne' blame them

The FN's mousewheel is a piece of ****. One of the bigger flaws of the mouse. If they just took the side clicks off it would probably work much better, who the hell uses side clicks anyway? They just add more internal parts and make it more difficult to click the wheel down. Occasionally the mousewheel gets stuck, warranting a little slap to get back in place.

I haven't had any peeling issue with my Nascita at all, in fact, other than the mousewheel it has held up fine over the past year or so. Had some initial sensor issues, but that was fixed completely with the firmware update. I have actually gone back to using my Nascita since the sensor on my Mionix 5k went tits-up last month. It's an OK mouse, but for the price you can certainly do better. Feenix customer service is outstanding though.

Some things could be better. I added some gun grip decals to the side because it's slippery when lifted. I wish the DPI were customizable, since there are no DPI options between 3200 and 5000 which is a baffling design decision. There are also some minor issues with the Feenix software (resets the DPI every time it's opened/first profile does not save.)
