Tattoo
« on: Thu, 27 November 2014, 12:30:32 »
Alright, fellas. I want some brainstorming to happen here! I've been wanting a tattoo since god knows when, but never really found anything I wanted. Yesterday I did. Only problem is; .. it's a sound. Namely the first "scream" you hear in this song: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gZMEWgZBcQs
or any other similar scream for that matter. Has anyone got any good idea of how to actually symbolise or picture that? What I've come up with so far are soundwaves and notes, but both are fairly unoriginal. Anyone got something?
I'm busting my head on this one :)) I'm a pretty noncreative guy, so I ain't got nothin ._.

EDIT: "better" (none of them are good) quality of the same song:

The only thing I can think of is Edvard Munch's The Scream.

GH tattoo thread if you are looking for inspiration.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Just kidding.

However, try to match something that works with something that you like or that means something to you. I have seen plenty of tattoo's that were "great ideas" but in the end it is still a tattoo. It is ink on skin, and whatever you do should work well. You can always talk to tattoo artists and see if they have any ideas. Make sure you go to a good artist that is creative for something like this. In the end, it is also the artist's on style and specialization that will dictate the way it is going to look. In my experience, you end up with a better tattoo almost 100% of the time if you match your own ideas with the thing the artist is good at.

something from norse mythology?
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Well, reason I want that "scream" is simply because it does mean a lot to me. For me, it really is the definition of my music and what I love. Music means a lot to me (what a shock. I guess music means a lot to most people, but you get what I mean), and I've always wanted something that could really capture the essence in what I love. And that hard rock scream might be just that.
And when you mention tattoo artists, both my mom and I have a tattoo artist in mind. He's very good technically, and he's got a style I like. But, I'm still on the lookout for a good artist with the exact style I want, and who's good at exactly the things I think are awesome. As you said, someone with the right mindset and skills, might end up making your tattoo 10 times better, and that's also why I want to give my tattoo artist very free hands when drawing my tattoo, when it finally comes to that. One thing I'm also careful with, is getting someone that I really hit the tone with, in person, I feel like that has quite a lot to say as well.

There's nothing there that really means something to me. However, there's a lot of cool stuff to tattoo from there, that's for sure.
