Washing n00b here..
« on: Mon, 12 January 2015, 17:33:04 »
Anyone got a washing machine / dryer they'd recommend..

I don't want something that's got a billion gimmicky features..

Just looking for the important stuff..

Now.. as male.. I don't actually know what those important stuff iz..

I do know I want a front loader..  The top loaders I've used were always a bit harder on the cloth..

LOL, first off, just want to say I'm a huge fan...

second, you should get a cheap Kenmore or Maytag at Sears, parts are cheap and they last forever...probably not as energy/water efficient as the expensive ones but the upfront cost is less..you can usually find cheapies on CL from people moving, might even meet some hot chicks.. :D

Oh god.. I don't want hot chix - cooties...  they're popular people, so well, cooties..

I see many of these more expensive models made by samsung?

I'm only familiar with their phones..

ur saying the maytag, kenmore, are better because I can find replacement parts more easily.. that's definitely a +..

Are there other things I should be looking for?  anything new in washing cloths besides water + soap + spin?

I'm under the impression that typical laundry soap, water then some fabric softener will keep things in order.

I recently fixed a "non-re-settable" relay on 15 year old Kenmore dryer (wouldn't heat up) by throwing the relay against the concrete, and it actually reset it, good for another 15 years, like a Buick...between youtube and ebay you can fix anything....and you're stimulating Murica'...

Samsung S4 is good, they have no place touching my dirty socks...they probably have more useless electronics that you don't need (job security for appliance techs)..

I will post the washing machine tomorrow when I get home.

The best features that I, a male, use are the temp control and the various controls for length of time, and I can determine how much heat, if I use heat, and if the clothing needs to be gently pressed and dried. What is the price range you are looking at right now?
