Now I'm sitting with it here in my lap, blowing cold air into the intake with a hair-dryer (cool button)..

Don't mess with high viscosity blends on a hot day..

Haha.. I think their exhaust should go out the back instead of down.. to minimize hot air ingestion.

It' s a problem for VTOL jets, apparently Vitamix as well.

no..

the air bubble would be good..

Basically I put in too much potato.. and it was like blending glue..

So the near -nonNewtonian liquid was compressing too much around the blade.

Vitamix are very, very nice blenders but they do have limits.

They are also kind of faddish right now. Vitamix are headquartered here in Cleveland. I hear stories from salespeople about customers who come in to buy one as a fashion accessory. They are totally uninterested in specs, warranty, etc., and some even come out and say they just want it to set it out on the counter, presumably so others can see it and think they are healthy or whatever.

I loaded it up with as much chopped potato cubes as would fit and poured in the rest of the tomato and onion puree..

Basically it was like glue... so...... I guess it's my fault... I think on a cool day, this would've been fine.. but it was really warm day..

Also, I'm contemplating making a vitamix stand, to lift it off the counter for better air flow.

Ha... no, it has more than enough flow I think.. because the internal impeller is spin 1:1 with the blade, so quite fast..

The problem is hot air ingestion

Of course ur right that I could build a duct to draw intake air from somewhere other than the bottom..

Problem with that would be spills..

Problem with that would be spills..

No problem. Make it out of carbon fiber and titanium and have it powered by nuclear reactor. Then spills would not be such an issue!

Hahaha.. That would most certainly cause condensation.. AC air drops the temperature too quickly..
