Any tips to improve typing speed (wpm, wps)
« on: Sat, 26 September 2015, 23:25:38 »
My goal is to get 100 wpm, I used to be really good at tpying when I was like 8 but I got into consoles and came back, I used to be able to type 80 words per minute, now I type 50 words per minute which is embarrassing to me.

generally,   play 10fastfingers . com   register and play the advanced mode

the normal mode doesn't make you fast with less common words.

Once you get a bit faster,  if you want some indepth information,  read 'the guide'

Started touch typing seriously back in February - where I was around 30wpm - now on keybr I usually get 90-110 wpm and about 85-95 on 10fastfingers and typeracer

Still not sure whether to make the switch to using my right thumb with the space bar like in your compendium....

Um...  you don't have to switch to right thumb,  but it makes for superior key balance, and its not really as hard a switch as adjusting any other finger..   because you're probably not already using your right thumb on any other key.

For example, if suddenly I want to start using  my ring finger for " i ",  that would be a large switch because I'd be making a large shift in many words and rhythm..  to use it in a different way also means , you're actively remembering to cancel a predefined muscle reflex which will take time to disassociate.

Whereas the right thumb doesn't do anything, so it's unencumbered and free to adapt easily.

Tempted to give it a shot but it seems to mess with the muscle memory of my right hand when I do it
