Priests and Kids

So. I just saw that movie, Spotlight.

There's a scene, where they're doing "research"..

Working backwards from the priests' directory, to pattern match priests who were moved around alot from parish to parish, thus matching their profile for the "problem-ed priest"

What's really confusing is,  this is a major newspaper handling the case,  How come they didn't use OCR software, and then had this done in like all of maybe 4 hours, given the tiny data set they're working with.

Oh thank goodness this thread is not about what I thought it would be.

well, we could talk about that too if you'd like..

But i think it's obvious to everyone out there now, NOT to send their kids to priest camps..

So, i think society's well aware of the issue..

but My point is,  given the data registry mentioned in the movie,  A small team could OCR the whole of all the priests in america, and find precisely those who fit the profile. and register them on some website like priest predators .com or something.

I've never seen the movie you're talking about, but I don't think there is a database with all registered priests.

well according to the movie, they publish a directory for priest assignments...

I guess for people who want to find the priests that they might've been working with over the years.

SO, the 6% of all priests who do the bad-stuff get reassigned extremely often due to them getting caught all the time..

I don't think it's worth looking into at this point,  since people already know.. but.. yea.. OCR could've made this alot  faster.
