PS1 is close, but not really 3 IMO. Playstation 2 literally had anything you wanted. It also had online compatibility. An awesome UI. It also took a huge leap graphically when it was released.

Also had the HD Loader as a kid with my PS2 used to go to blockbuster rent a game then copy it across, that is until they started adding protection into some games, but the PS2 is still the best console I had and still have!

xbox loaded faster for most things..

It had an 800mhz Celeron which is significantly faster than PS2's Emotion Engine at the time.

it had a pentium 3 based celeron.

but it was like a celeron because it didn't have the large cache.

I played a few online/LAN matches of various FPS but I never had a chance to try out the PS2's online games. At the time I was just learning about fiber optic cables, it was a few years before I knew of DSL. Small town blues.

I remember Tribes on the PS2 was suppose to be the HALO killer, but....that never happened..

PS2 textures are just too blurry, couldn't see much from a distance. and it really just wasn't designed around an ONLINE experience.

the right Ps3 had backwards compatability for 1 and 2, a web browser, the ability to read and play movies from usb, free multiplayer, some awesome games! It might not have had the same impact, but it was definitely close imo.

I would agree with you had they continued backwards compatibility. It was only available for the first models. You can still use PS1 games however.

I think they're churning out fighting games too-quickly..

I get it, make money,    but if you make the rate so quick, how is anyone suppose to truly master the game..

You just can't build a community with such a rate..

Cuz the only playerbase that can keep up with so many new changes are professional gamers..
