22KBD/Kaliet Experience
« on: Fri, 22 January 2016, 14:52:19 »
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has had any contact successfully from Kaliet/22KBD recently.  I had placed an order last Feb for 2 keyboards and he kept in contact with me pretty well for a month or so.  He then said he had stopped working on my order since he had to deal with some personal issues.  I said no worries and told him to just continue at his own pace, just to keep me updated with the progress.  I don't hear from him for a few months and he finally gave me an update around Nov. saying he was close to finishing my order.  It has been a few months now and all the emails I send for either an update have been ignored.  Has anyone heard from this guy?  Am I out of luck and just lose 1K to a scammer?  He seemed to be fulfilling his orders and a legitimate seller.  Anyone have any way to contact him besides email?

Kaliet isn't a scammer as far as I know.  I've dealt with him successfully three times for three different boards.  He frequently travels abroad on mission trips and is gone for extended periods of time.  I know that doesn't help you much but I've never had him just completely sever communications and ignore me.  Even if it's months later, he will always catch up with me and make sure I receive everything I paid for.

I don't think you should worry about it.

In my experiences he takes awhile to reply but when he does it's quick & consistent.

What Sent said fits right in with the reply patterns I've gotten from him so he may be away right now.

Like the 1st time I contacted him I didn't get a reply for 7 months but when he got back to me he quoted my board in about 10 minutes.

Anyone able to get hold of 22kdb?  It looks like his website is no longer there and I haven't had any response by email for 6 months.  I had ordered two keyboards and paid in full so it sucks if he did end up scamming me out of $1,000.

Well. I commissioned an A87 from him at the end of 2014. He kept me sparsely updated until November '15 in which he said I would likely have it by the end of the year. I attempted to reconnect with him in February '16 and have had no contact since. If anything ever shows up it would be a miracle to me.

From my brief translated interaction with Apollos I understand that he underwent a great amount of depression and stress. This caused him to take an extended break from board making/tuning. He told me he was in a much better place and back in full swing on the keyboard game. Unfortunately this is immediately before he went dark from our emails.

This is a prime example of the #1 rule of GH: caveat emptor. Shooting money to someone you've never met can be a dice roll. Whether intentional or not, not receiving goods and services is always a constant risk. There are not enough tangible repercussions to assure it won't happen, so you need to roll with the punches.

I hope Apollos is doing well and has a fairly mild time with his tour of duty. Even if I never get anything physical from our interaction, he has been a pleasure to talk shop with. Hes a great guy, and I can't put any blame on him without knowing what his situation truly is.

Yea, I understand it's always a risk and I don't think I was pressuring 22kdb at all.  It wasn't like I was asking for daily updates.  I had placed my order Feb 2015 and he actually informed me of his personal issues telling me he was taking a short break. I wished him well and to just let me know when he was resuming or he felt the jobs were too much to just ship all the parts and I could just enjoy learning how to build.  He was always nice when we talked. Just a shame he goes dark.  I just hope to hear from him at all to be honest at this point.
