Got home today.

The president of my home provincial calligraphy administration was visiting the usa, and gifted Tp4 his practice brush..

(It's like a state endorsed cultural preservation society, but since this is china, there's thousands of people in this weirdly specific administrations just doing calligraphy stuff.. hahahahha)

By custom,   Tp4 is now obligated to become very good at calligraphy


THE PROBLEM IS......   Tp4's hand writing is only average by Asian-american standards..

Relative to home country levels,  it's several miles below dirt....... mantle, yes hurray amd..



This is deeply distressing...... so much pressure......

Tp4 may never live up to expectations .................

I think younger kids put alot more thought into their online avatar/aliases because it's a much more important part of their world.

But older guyz like Tp4, it's pretty much just off hand, whatever's on my desk that day.

Hahahahaha..   Calligraphy is associated with personal growth, as one learns and does more things throughout life, one needs to write, and so it follows that your path improves your writing and your writing improves your path..


Paperfolding is an artform as well, but the way it has developed in modernity, it has move outside of the male focus..

I don't think I would ever be handed paperfolded craft by another chinese male born of chinese society...



This would exclude engineering tasks of course.. if a Tool or Model was produced from paper.
