Never say -Fat-
« on: Fri, 15 September 2017, 17:01:11 »
Sigh....................

Tp4 was amidst a phone conversation today,  and dropped the Phat word a few times..

---- was talking to someone about V-Dog dogfood, because my buddy has an extremely overweight pet. and I thought Vegan Dog Food would definitely help..

So.. of course, in this country we just used the regular human pronouns..

There was this female sitting not too far in front of Tp4,   and she thought I was talking over the phone about her weight, and laughing about it..

Sigh................

The female burst out crying after about 8 minutes into the phone call,  it was the bloody murder kind of crying.. where everyone goes silent and looks...

She became hysterical,  and kept repeating, it's not my fault, it's not my fault, I was born,  etc...

I had no idea, that this particular F-word has become so Damaging and hurtful in the public space..

So It's probably just good FYI,  to never ever use it....

yo for real though, I've been like 3 times in the last year

Google is a ****ing nightmare for ideological echo chambers and outrage culture.

I've learned something though, if you maintain that level of offensiveness people become desensitized (as well they ****ing should) just further proving it's 100% a product of society and environment as opposed to actual real legitimate outrage in line with their core values. I even got the gay black guy on my team to start making cracks about gender and race, it just took some time to break down the barriers of sensitivity ;)

This is my dream - to live in a world where free speech and thought is protected, and no one gets offended by silly words and we can all laugh at each other equally.

We have to be careful here,  because if every person had unlimited energy to placate their emotions,  then your assertion would be correct.

However,  in a space where interpersonal conduct operate under constraints and limitations beyond absolute personal control..  we have a SOCIAL-Accord..

The ideal of open free speech is fine,   but in practice,   it may not be possible to bring out the big words to every place under every circumstance.

For example,  you can get your open carry,   but if you open-carry your AK on the street near other people,   that violates social-accord unless you are actually in danger which necessitates that conduct.

No one is born obese. True, your parents are to blame for poor diet for children but there are plenty of people who have figure out how to be healthy despite their upbringing.

I'm fat. Thanks to my poor life choices in my late 20's and early 30's. I decided to make a change. Today i'm less fat than I was a year ago though... because i chose not to eat junk food and sugar. One day, hopefully before i die of a heart attack i'll be "normal" weight.

Suck it up, buttercup.

To speak on-subject here for a moment, there used to be a subreddit on Reddit called /r/fatpeoplehate

As an overweight individual, I used this both as a tool for comedy as well as a motivator. I would visit the sub almost daily when I was craving a snack or thinking about ordering pizza, and it would make me disgusted with myself.

It was a HELPFUL tool, I look in the mirror and by no stretch of delusion can see I am fat and unhealthy. Healthy at any size is a straight up lie people tell themselves, telling me I look good or that this is who I am is doing nothing but enforcing unhealthy habits.

Over the 2 months after /r/fatpeoplehate was taken down and banned by the Reddit moderators as hate speech I gained nearly 10lbs.

what... nooooo.... whattttt....

That is not healthy...  hahahahaha...   Turtle, you make some very odd life choices.

We know the problem,  but of course,  the fix is very difficult because of the addictive aspect of greasy meaty foods..

But, I'm merely trying to point out,   the situation as is..   it's simply too hurtful a word these days..  let's keep it tamed except for the most dire circumstances.

If this is about stealth,  why not use something completely unrelated,  look at that tree over there..

you get to be insensitive,  and no one is the wiser,   everyone wins.

Oh I think I get it. So if I use words or phases like corpulent, blubbernaught, robust, or gravitationally challenged then no one is the wiser?

Edit: No wait, those are related. My bad.

I literally just ordered some burgers and cheese curds, I'm such a fat weak-willed piece of ****. If only there was someone here to shame me and tell me how disgusting I am, perhaps I would have made a better choice.

It's tough if you have no reason to be healthier..

Whatever payoff could be gained from it is very far away, so given the fast pace lifestyle of moderna,  it really is difficult..  That isn't to say you shouldn't try, hahahaha,  but yea.. it's hard..

I'm tall and thin and growing up, I envied my fat friends for having meats. And these same fat friends got dates in school, while the slimmer and taller one went date-less.

Till today, I don't understand what's the problem being with fat? I mean obese - yes that's extreme, but a little extra meat and curves are totally fine by me.

Fat is a physical descriptor.

It is very closely associated with Ugly.

These are very baseline negative-descriptors.

So when we envoke these terms,  an entire cascade of associated definitions cross our minds.

In that way, it's a very powerful and loaded term..

This is extra damning to younger people.

An adult has a car, a house, a wife, a job, a salary, a keyboard collection..    Who cares what people think.. He's got everything he needs.

A young person has none of those things.  He is fundamentally his body and whatever resource his parents allot him..

When a young person enters the school environment,  Outward beauty is the only currency in the absence of Actual state-currency..

In that way,  we can view the young persons social ladder with Ugly or Fatter population equivalent of destitute or homeless,   while the beautiful people are the billionaires.

When we build these very basic file folder names from youth,   FAT may end up being the launch icon for all of one's life's inadequacies and failures, etc

-- not getting females
-- not getting males
-- not getting picked
-- getting picked on
-- embarrasement
-- teasing/ bullying..

So that's why FAT is so terribly Terrible..

I wouldn't even go that into detail about being overweight - Being fat simply shows you are unhealthy and do not want to do the needed work to lose it or make changes to your diet. It really is that black and white.

I seem to remember some radio segment on how a person couldn't lose weight until they had a fecal transplant (something to do with healthy bacteria) after which *snap-boom-bing* it verked. Have also read it can go in the opposite direction depending on the source.

Maybe the solution has been under us all this time, just waiting to escape...

It shows that there is a problem..  and that there is a food addict present..

Addiction is more than choice and laziness however..  we have to be mindful of that..

oh Jesus h. Christ... nobody has the constitutional right to never be offended by anyone or anything..

however... using your cell phone in public and having an 8+ minute call... that is the problem...   Cell phones have destroyed whatever remnants of civility remained in our culture..

Ye... getting impression laughter drove the nail in. It was just a misunderstanding. Condoning the use of fat/any word wont solve anything, better off establishing clear communication to clear up misunderstandings (or even aid :S).

My main point is,  it seems to have been elevated to the level of a curse word.   So it's probably best to treat it as such..

No,  Tp4 loves the females.. !!

But, unfortunately, females not love tp4 back.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
