Shine Anxiety Not-So-Anonymous
« on: Sat, 25 November 2017, 10:10:15 »
So do any of you ever get all hesitant and apprehensive to use caps that aren't shined? This comes from a mostly vintage cap collecting perspective, personally. I'm sure many who buy the aftermarket Cherry MX sets are down to using them.

On one hand, I find uniform shine to look lovely, especially on sphericals, but if I found a rare set of caps and they're unused, it can be damn hard to want to use them without feeling guilty.

On the other hand, it can be like you're making them yours, leaving your mark as the first to use them, and if you intend on keeping them, why not?

How do you feel?

Guess it's the same as people buying older cars.

A 1985 car that's been used thoroughly throughout the years, has 130,000 miles and is obviously used? No one will care enough to preserve it.

A 1985 car that's been kept in showroom condition, has delivery mileage and is pristine? No one will want to be the person to ruin it.

I got a 9009 R1 set a couple months back; no problem using it and wearing them in. I'm not sure I'd do the same with a NIB dyesub set.

I agree with the having apprehension. I have a Wyse 85 that came with decals on the numpad which I just won’t use.
All the more reason to have many boards to rotate through.

You should be more anxious of the fact that there's probably  Man wii-liquid all over the stuff you bought on ebay.
