Can't say I've done this since I was a child, at first just because then because it's easier to conceal alcohol outdoors...

Half the appeal of camping is being out in nature so being in a garden unable to escape the sounds of traffic just wouldn't cut it.

Hrrrmm. the main road is a distance away, I don't think I can hear it at night.. I could hear planes though

I can do all that in the yard,    except I'm not sure I want to go through building a fire, since it's not even that cold..

I'm gonna do some back garden camping when the weather improves, but only for lols with my daughter. To prep her for a proper trip.  Otherwise I'd just have a fire in the garden then go to sleep in my comfy bed in the house.
