What did you think of "Joker"? [Spoilers probably]
« on: Thu, 10 October 2019, 13:06:33 »
This is the only comic book movie I've enjoyed in a long time; although I've only seen Marvel movies lately. The last DC movie I saw was The Dark Knight Rises.

Anyway, I thought it was very entertaining and dark. It had more going on than the standard formula, and the fact that there was no hero on his tail trying to catch him or anything made it much more interesting. Joaquin Phoenix's performance was amazing as well; I think he's definitely tied or maybe even exceeded Heath Ledger's Joker performance.

Maybe they're waiting for gasmasks and latex to get sexy again.

The world has become a weird place.

Calling this a comic book movie is a stretch. While the titular character was based on the idea of a specific comic book character and there were other characters pulled from the Batman comics, I can't see how this movie would actually fit in a DC universe if the main character was supposed to go on to become a super villain. To think that this character could be a 60-80 year old Joker going toe-to-toe with a 20-30 something Batman feels impossible.

Yea, but the DCU has the Lazarus pits.  so they can do anything time wise.
