Will have 500+ Dollars, Need Options
« on: Sun, 04 March 2012, 00:08:48 »
I am looking for an AMAZING preforming mechanical keyboard.

I love tenkeyless but it isn't a necessity.

I was thinking about a HHKB or Realforce, I currently have a Das Keyboard.

Please give me options as well as opinions.

3 Filcos of your choosing.

Or preform typing lessons.

Not gonna buy three keyboards, just one then the rest of the money will go to keycaps :)

So, give me an option, should have been more specific.

That's close to enough money to commission a Korean custom, Phantom, or some aluminum enclosed keyboard.

1 HHKB.  1 RealForce.

Oh wait, over your budget.

1 RealForce.  And  boycott the spare colored keyset because of that ABS spacebar thing.  You'd be rewarding laziness.

Would you recommend a default tenkeyless or a 55g or something

Also should I purchase this from EK?

Get the 55g.  It feels much better than the 45g, to me at least, because the tactile feedback is much more pronounced.  I have zero regrets about buying my 55g, and my only regret about the 45g is that it isn't 55g.  You might enjoy the 45g more if you have light fingers though.

If you are buying the HHKB, don't give up on it if you can't get used to the layout within the week.
Buy it for the layout, not for it being a cute little keyboard.

Just get your pick of a realforce board i prefer uniform 45g then 55g then type s then the normal variable. With that money you could also get some more colorful caps for the board.

For a little bit more you can just your own.

I made this full custom keyboard http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=26845

That is way more than $500 but you can definitely still build your own custom tenkeyless

It's definitely worth the investment if the result is a keyboard you will love and use for years!
