CM Quickfire Blues

Hey All,

So I have purchased several CM QFR boards (blues, browns, blacks) to test out the three switches (still wanting reds).

It's seem to me that the QFR blues have a problem with the spacebar. It seems extremely sticky, sometimes even getting stuck.
The resistance feels a lot more grippy, the blacks nor browns don't have this problem, they both slide. I understand that the blues
have the tactile click, but the other keys don't have the problem of them seemingly like they are getting stuck.

Does anyone have this problem/suggest a solution? I love typing on the blues and it would be my preferred typing board over the browns
just this spacebar problem is somewhat annoying.

Thank you!

I'm not sure if he is an active poster on geekhack, but if you head on over to overclocked.net, you may be able to get in contact with a user by the name of CMCarter who happens to work for CM. I would personally just PM him and give it a day or two since I'm not really sure how active he is over there, but I know for a fact that he was on either yesterday or the day before and would be happy to help you!

Edit: Just noticed you're from Australia. He's in the States, but may be able to help you directly or he may refer you to a regional rep for Australia.

I have one as well and haven't had the issue, so it is probably either an individual switch issue or the key needs to be reseated. If you haven't reseated a key with costar stabilizers before be careful and look at the wiki on how to do it. It isn't difficult, but you don't wanna break it.

Hey mrmatt,

Thanks for the reply. I have reseated the key, removed and changed the stabiliser between my other CM QFR keys and changed the keycaps between OEM and PBT.

I'm now assuming it's a switch problem which is a little more difficult. I may try to contact CM customer support and ask for advice as to my best options.

Edit: Upon further consideration, it may not be the switch as when removed, the switch acts and sounds fine if i just place a single unit key on it and force the key press.

Have you tried using a different spacebar on there then to see if the issue persists? When I had my QFR with Blues I don't recall running into this issue with the little time I spent with it.

Update:

I spent a few minutes looking at the stabiliser and the stems/pieces that connect the stabiliser to the board. I actually removed those pieces and move them inwards
to the next place holder and tried that. The spacebar is wobbly (obviously) but there isn't a problem with the sticking key or the spacebar being stuck.

strange o.O

Your descriptions are inconsistent. Maybe post a video of the issue. But if you got it new off a website, just rma, saves alot of time vs troubleshooting,
