input delay

Hio,

i bought my first mechanical keyboard (Qpad MK-50) as it is not that many options on the german market. i received the keyboard today and typed a little bit on it (red switches). as i switched from the logitech g15, i feel there is a slightly delay between the entry and the input i see on the screen. does anyone know if its just imagination, is it normal or is there an option to measure this stuff?

Qpad is not as good as iPad in this regard.

If you are using USB,, then there is a chance that other USB peripherals May induce latency to your keyboard inputs.  Because USB bandwidth has to be shared...

If you got USB 3.0 though, U can use that exclusively for your keyboard, for good results..

However, ps/2 port is the only way to get nkro


If you're using windows + usb,, You can change the USB polling rate to 1000hz for your keyboard to reduce latency, default is 125

i have usb 2.0 and no option to use the nkro over ps2. im a bit confused, cause my usb mouse works still fine, and my old g15 was also connected via usb. my mouse still works great. but neverless i will google this 1000hz thing any maybe its a bit imagination, thx so far

Well, clearly not a USB vs PS2 thing then!

Some keyboards have a bit more lag than others, and changing to 1000Hz won't really change that to any noticable degree. It's quite hard to measure, but Namenlos found some interesting results.

I'm not sure at what point delays become noticable though, so I'd suggest switching between your old G15 and the QPAD a few times to convince yourself that it really is the keyboard making the difference.

i put both keyboards together on and i think its just the recognition point on the keys which are higher with the g15. so i hope its just the feeling and not a problem

p.s. i downloaded a small tool which tells u the actuall usb polling rate (of the mouse). its up to 1k, so i thinks its the same on all 8 usb ports -.-

it depends on what mouse + software you're using...  If you're on xp, use usbmouserate switcher...  If you're on Windows 7, you gotta google this one, LOL much more difficult,, the difference is, on xp, changing the rate applies to all ports,, on Win 7, changing the poll rate only affects a single port.

i use win7 64bit. i tested it with my g5 (setpoint).

The G15 is dome, right? Dome+membrane has the lowest actuation point, full depression. It's possible that you're used to the key dropping to the bottom under pressure, but I would have thought that reds, being so light, would reach actuation point (mid-travel) just as fast from being easier to press ... Weird.
