[Interest Check] Pretty In Pink

aka Pretty Ponies and Princesses in Pink (with Unicorns)

After comparing SigPlast's two ABS pinks to Filco's Pink TKL case, I have determined that they are perfect matches!  The darker ABS (RCR) matches in indirect light, and the lighter ABS (RCS) matches when the light is more directly reflected off the case..  I realize that we are a pretty Male-Heavy contingent here, which may be too macho to consider PINK, but I can think of at least one guy who might go for this idea, and maybe some Daddies with daughters who are growing up to be hard core coders/gamers/MMOers/chatroommavens....  Any others?

I was thinking of doing a more "ninja" look, with legends in contrasting pink (RCS on RCR, and vice versa), but for this quick mockup, I went with pure white.

[ Attachment Invalid Or Does Not Exist ] 42543
original mockup - pinks not quite right

[ Attachment Invalid Or Does Not Exist ] 42581
updated mockup - much closer

[ Attachment Invalid Or Does Not Exist ] 42582
Color check updated mockup against SP chips  (note that it is extremely hard to match screen colors to reflective chips!)

I was also thinking that there could be a few extra dyesub modifier keys with Rainbow Ponies, Unicorns, Princesses, etc.

Thoughts? Comments?  Thanks!

That mockup reminds me of a pink PLU-87 that DangWang has.  Anyway I don't think a set of pink keycaps would look good on mine. =(

That is almost exactly the same as a Pink Filco, aside from your nyancat and the odd "tattoo" above the arrow cluster.

The white keycaps on the Pink Filco just seem too tame, and too bright. Plus, they are cheap pad prints. A set of doubleshots should last as long as the switches.

I could be wrong about the tri-tone pink being a good idea, but I don't think so at this point, although I am pretty sure that it's appeal is to a very limited audience.

Thanks for looking and commenting. :-)

BTW, I need to calibrate my monitor and ColorSync to the SP chips. I'll update the mockup with more authentic colors when I can.

I saw a set of PBT pink, pad printed in white, keys on Taobao, I think. Does anyone have a set on a pink Filco that we could get a video of to see how the light plays?  Or a set i could borrow in the USA?

That's different, but not bad!  :-)

One of the cool things about the pink Filco case is that it changes from the dark pink to light pink as the light on it changes, but the plastics don't. It should be a nice effect IRL.

True that SigPlast only really has two ABS pinks, but they just happen to be the perfect pinks for matching Filco's paint!  See OP.

You are correct about the purple though.  I thought of Hazeluff when I saw the utter dearth of purple.  There are a couple of lavenders....

Yea, might be too much. I think you need that contrast; either pink caps on a white board or white caps on a pink board.

Plus that pink and teal of the Miami is though to beat.

I have to start looking through all my pony pictures to see color combinations; I just think this needs something more...

OP updated with new colors, and color verification against actual ABS chips.  i.e.:

[ Attachment Invalid Or Does Not Exist ] 42583
[ Attachment Invalid Or Does Not Exist ] 42584

Remember that the Filco case is painted with METALLIC pink, which changes shade almost exactly between the two SP pinks, depending upon the lighting.

I am not a big fan of cyan (which is what they are calling "teal" for Miami).

I think that the photograph is fairly representative of what the keyboard would look like in person.  I'm rethinking the ninja idea, and thinking that white legends are better.

Nice find!  So it is an idea with merit. I think that my pinks are much better, particularly the two tones, and the white legends. I also like these new Filcos with metallic pink.  If people bought those all-pastel-pink boards, they'd definitely like this. Albeit, not the price of SP doubleshots!   ;-P

Pink would be a big nono for me, I cant justify that, but indigo purple is a completely different color, or royal purple with yellow lettering would be pretty sweet or white. Like demik said the miami gb wasn't a big hit for me, but maybe I am just colorist against pink.

I think you can probably get that off the shelf.  My personal preference for that would be imsto's THICK PBT keycaps (if he ever gets the capslock / ~ colors to match) and some polyester dye.  See my acid dye experiment to see how NOT to dye PBT keycaps!  ;-)
