Corsair K90 disassembly
« on: Thu, 06 December 2012, 13:37:15 »
Has anyone disassembled the Corsair K90 keyboard yet? I have removed all the screws and I am having issues separating the aluminum faceplate from the base. Any suggestions on how to remove it without breaking something?

I took apart a k60, not sure if it's exactly the same as a k90. But I remember there being a screw underneath the Corsair sticker logo at the top of the board. Be careful though. It's hard to put the sticker back on flat if you bend it too much while taking it off.

Thanks, completely trashed the sticker trying to get it off. Not too worried about it though since the intent is to have the aluminum plate cerakoted anyway. I am having huge issues separating the corner were the volume wheel is though, I can't see what it is hung up on.

I don't remember having any problems with the area near the volume wheel. I no longer have the k60 so I can't check for you. You are on your own unless anyone else has any suggestions...haha.

Apparently there is a tab through the volume wheel with a screw attached to the base. I basically had to bend the cover back and forth to break the plastic standoff that the screw is attached to in order to separate the two pieces. Conclusion... my wife just got a new keyboard and I am going to buy a CM Storm Trigger instead.
