Razer Tournament Edition
« on: Thu, 08 November 2012, 18:03:33 »
I just got it today. I love it!! Anybody have any complaints with it? The only one i have is that the USB detachable cord sticks out too much and i can't comfortably lie it on top of my laptop and type like the Leopold or even the Filco tenkeyless. It rubs against the screen. I do love the feel of the cherry mx blues!

You can get a custom cable made (or just buy one from somewhere) that has a right angle mini USB connection so that you don't have that problem.

Thank you so much. I didn't know you could do that. Where can you buy them at? Also, i am hearing some complaints about Razer keyboards. Are they really that bad?

They just have not been up to the quality of the more trusted OEM rebrands for mechanical keyboards.
60% keyboards, 100% of the time.

Thanks. I also just bought the angle USB cord that was recommended. I didn't even know they made those. I really love this board because people give really great advice and are great to deal with. Thanks again guys!  :-*

It's amazing - you think a keyboard is just a bunch of keys, but there is so much more to it than that.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I'd prefer to say obsession ;)

I do cry...

That and a puppy dies every time you buy anything made by iONE.

You guys don't seem to understand the term "fetish"

"fetish" really only extends to objects that you "literally" masturbate to, or full on sexually aroses you.

a Keyboard hobby is NOT like that...

fet·ish/ˈfetiSH/
Noun:
1. An inanimate object worshiped for its supposed magical powers or because it is considered to be inhabited by a spirit.
2. A course of action to which one has an excessive and irrational commitment.

As distinct from erotic fetishism. Not sure about definition 1 either, but hey you never know.

My bad choice of words. Who would have thought it would be better to have an addiction than a fetish?  :)

Haha I thought fetish definition 2 matches everyone here about right.

Exactly. It seems that people like to fondle their keyboard given how much they whine about keycap textures.
