My perfect keyboard...
« on: Sat, 09 February 2013, 15:10:58 »
The more I see it, long travel keys don't make sense to me (Cherry MX= 4mm) they slow me down...
In other words a perfect keyboard for me would be similar to a Cherry MX (Blue) with 1mm to 2mm key travel (similar to rubber dome), but with a click sound (volume and frequency) of a mouse click. .
When it comes to size, the HHK Lite 2, would seem good for me (needs to have the inverted T arrows). Not sure about the CTRL and right Fn key, though. I'll order one now, to test...

I don't expect to have big issue pressing Fn for the F keys and maybe the Pg Up/Dn, but BkSpace and Del might be an issue (I use them both, since leaving the Commodore 64!) and having to Fn those might be an issue...

hhkb for $99, is ridiculous... you might as well get an apple Aluminum.. MUCH MUCH better keyboard for the price.

If you're after reduced travel, thick Orings can reduce the travel down to just 2.5mm.  :D

There's still a lot of clack and travel (with two black o-rings).

Try my GHETTO rings they're 1.7mm thick, guaranteed to reduce travel to within 2.4-2.7mm

The black orings are also too hard... my ghetto rings are uber soft... probably around 20-30 hardness

compared to the 50a on those black rings.

Just put soft-landing pads (from EK) on Cherry MX Blues, and use it with Cherry profile keycaps, if possible. Problem solved. (Been there, done that. I couldn't stand just "bare" blues.)

I gotta get another MX Blue keyboard and try my already purchased o-rings.
I actually tested it on a sample switch and works great.
I added two for each switch (they actuate/click).
