I don't leave my computer open at nights or when I'm gone, unless I know I will be back shortly. Also I can't torrent if I'm trying to play something so most of the time it was on pause. There weren't that many seeds either, the start especially was bit rocky, 10-100kb/s. The whole shebang was 80 gigs.

that's date back to 2007 or 2008. And the torrent client I used won't display the correct file name before the file is finished.

P.S. My computer(s) hadn't got any internet connection.

I have a 569.4GB file in my torrent list atm.  I haven't started it yet, as it exceeds my monthly download allowance by, oh, only a factor of about 5 (assuming I download nothing else for those 5 months).

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

TBH I have no idea what I'd do with that data even if I did download it.

Cring, 100GB limit :'( Poor you

Thats the thing about the UK, our Broadband providers maybe ripping of the government to the tune of 1.2Bn Pounds, and this results in me getting 300KB/s down. But atleast we have some of the cheapest internets in the world.

This thread can't possibly comply with the rules of the forum. Sure, there are legal downloads using torrents, but I would be genuinely surprised if you can find that many large legal files that anyone would want to download.

half an hour. was awful.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

nawh, you got the weak sauce version..

the G00d version is 250gb.

6 disks 40gb each.

what you have is an "encode", you don't have the bluray, you got an MP3 essentially vs flac.

Of all time, I have no idea... I've been using torrents for like at least 10 years so I am sure some took ages back then. Currently often I get some obscure movies in HD, which take days with the one seeder coming and going constantly and low transfer speeds.

I would offer to sneakernet it to you, but postage would kill it, even with a 640Gb laptop drive.

Longest torrent for me was recently: a Kali-linux ISO. I did not have internet at the time, and slowly downloaded it at free wifi hotspots over the course of a week or two.

Usually the largest problem for me is that there's like only one seeder for an obscure origami manual and he's only got 1/3 of it or whatever. Eventually I gave up.

(FWIW, the origami in question might have been "the last waltz" by Neil Elias. Copyright issues on abandonware are grey, and it's not been legally available anywhere for the past 40 years or so.)
