Recommendations for pimping a white filco tkl
« on: Tue, 05 November 2013, 10:28:25 »
Splashed out on a white mx blue filco tkl.  Amazing heavy solid keyboard but the keycaps are really not my cup of tea and give me the feeling of running my fingers over hard boiled egg shells.

Any recommendation for a full keyset upgrade that both looks and feels nice?

Red Alert with the beige mods looks good, too. (from Ragnorock's RA 2.0 GB)

There is that possibility. But as SpAmRaY says, keycaps take up less space than keyboards, so they are easier to hide.

Also, rent a post office box. :)

Have you seen VesperSAINT's white Filco? That's beautiful, just simple and beautiful. : )

Googled and a YouTube link came up.  White keys and coloured modifiers.  Liked the clean look.

I personally don't own any but those $33 sets of vortex doubleshot pbt seem like they would be amazing to type on. Cherry doubleshot originals and dyesubs are the best IMO

Welcome to Wallethack!

Have you tried offering her a keyboard and/or keycap set in her favourite colour?

Those classic beige sets from Originative, Red Alert, Raindrop, CCnG, or perhaps this white dysub PBT set would look great.

I feel like the whole wyse thing is so overdone though... everybody's got that pattern... courtesy of all the group-buys...

I was lucky enough to find an old WYSE keyboard. Had to painstakingly clean each cap by hand, but I love the dark navy legends on the creamy white/beige.

Edit: Looking back at the other pictures in the thread, I didn't realize the font was so common. I had only ever really seen it on the original navy/white.

OK ... So what do you think of SG's double shots as attached (on the white tkl filco) possibly adding the oubliette shot cherry profile red esc or a blue enter keys from elite?

Double not oubliette ... Thanks autocorrect.  But in case anyone was wondering as I did:

oubliette

Blank white PBT caps!

I believe feng sells them sometimes or you can get a cheaper set (not as thick maybe?) from here: http://www.banggood.com/PBT-87-Blank-White-Key-Caps-For-Cherry-MX-Keyboard-p-84084.html

Either that or a blank black set would look awesome, IMHO. Very clean and classy.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,

Also bear in mind that the Filco case is actually off-white.  Pure white keycaps will look a bit ... odd.

I got a grey/beige PBT set with black font that I got from Feng that I will be putting on my beige MJ2 in the next day or two.
I just wish it had the correct color capslock key.

I looked at the PBT sets on Originative, but it says that they are 85 key sets not 87  :(

Hmmm... Maybe a blank black set from the GB Ivan is trying to set up then? That should look and feel great!

The Dolch GMK set from Originative may look good, too.. Not sure if he's going to get more in, though. :(
