I don't know Nelson Mandela's quotes, but I can say that I didn't really know the man more than his name until his health got bad a few months ago and I saw a documentary about his life.

I must say that I have been more than impressed by the man, by his courage and by his will. Few people could have done what he did, myself included. Very few.

I don't have Mandela quotes, either. But I have had the unexpected pleasure of watching certain people turn extra-pale at the mention of his name in conversation... blood drains from face... can't speak...  :-*

The Earth is a better place for having had him.

You talking about Mandella? I hope you're not talking to me. I said nothing. That is a direct Nelson Mandella quote.

You're not supposed to criticize the "policemen of the world" as if they bore any responsibility for what they do. Otherwise, you're "anti-American".

I'd say at least half of people who are gushing over Mandela, both in the media and in general are actually opposed to the things he stood for, or would disagree with his stances on things like the Iraq/Afghanistan wars, Israel, the UN, wealth distribution, etc.

Definitely. But it's the flavor of the week to praise him so meh.

"Edgy" must be your word for the day. ;)

I never said anything about Americans being stupid. Americans are generally friendly, amazing people. It's the brainwashing American media and corrupt corporate American government that I don't like.

It was the CIA that got Mandela arrested and imprisoned for decades. It has everything to do with him.

Why should we whitewash history to spare your sensibilities?

White wash? Who said I'm complaining about my history not being white washed. I'm a minority, you don't need to remind me what type of government I have and the **** they have done. So spare me.

I heard this quote today:
"It always seems impossible until it's done.”

His life's work backs that quote up pretty well, I think.

even after mandela's death, his words butthurt someone.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.
