Diagnosing keyboard issue with Filco Ninja Majestouch-2
« on: Tue, 31 December 2013, 10:03:20 »
Hello,

I've had this keyboard a little over a year and last night the b and n keys quit working. They are completely non functional. In addition, it appears as if the control key is always pressed.

Using google + this forum I've learned this could be a switch problem or a logic board problem? I'm not entirely familiar with the logic board, but if I had to guess I think it's the 3x1" pcb towards the top right of the keyboard?

At any rate, I've taken the keyboard apart and I've used a multimeter to poke around and test for continuity on the suspect keys, but I'm not sure what I'm really looking for to diagnose and fix this issue. I've also got a soldering iron at my work bench if needed.

What should I be doing to fix this keyboard? Thanks!

pull off controller board,  check the contacts that goes to the chip itself..

Thanks for the reply. The individual switches test fine and when I close the switch and run the hook the multimeter between each key and the pin that drives it on the controller, it looks good. Does this indicate a problem with the controller itself?

Test the diodes.
